Description
We are looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join a contract engagement in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This role will concentrate on improving the resilience, protection, and performance of a Cisco Meraki-based network environment through thoughtful assessment and targeted enhancements. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, sound judgment, and a practical approach to elevating network operations in line with proven industry standards.
Responsibilities:
Examine the current Cisco Meraki environment to identify architectural shortcomings, security risks, and opportunities to improve network performance.
Review network policies, rule sets, and configuration templates to promote stronger governance, alignment, and operational consistency.
Drive infrastructure enhancement initiatives, including upgrades and tuning efforts across Meraki-supported network components and connected sites.
Collaborate with internal technical teams to refine network standards and establish scalable approaches based on best practices.
Evaluate the maturity of the broader network ecosystem and provide prioritized recommendations for sustainable improvement.
Investigate and resolve advanced networking issues across Cisco-based environments to restore stability and reduce recurring problems.
Provide ongoing support for core network infrastructure, including Cisco routers and Palo Alto firewall platforms, as needed.
Create clear technical documentation outlining assessments, recommended actions, and completed changes to support visibility and continuity.

Requirements
10+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering positions.
Strong hands-on experience administering Cisco Meraki solutions within enterprise-scale environments.
Broad knowledge of Cisco networking, including routing, security, and infrastructure architecture.
Practical experience supporting Cisco routers and Palo Alto firewall technologies.
Demonstrated ability to assess network designs and pinpoint security, performance, or structural gaps.
Track record of delivering upgrades and operational improvements in complex network environments.
Ability to apply networking best practices that strengthen reliability, scalability, and overall security.
