Location: Minnesota (Remote)
Employment Type: Contract
Duration: 12 months
Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic and hands-on AI Automation Architect to drive the effectiveness of AI-driven and agent-based automation initiatives across enterprise workflows. This role focuses on ensuring automation efforts deliver a measurable reduction in manual effort, not just technical implementations. The ideal candidate will act as a thought partner and technical advisor, evaluating AI tools, models, and agent integrations to ensure they are applied in ways that improve efficiency, scalability, and maintainability. This individual will work with cross-functional teams to assess existing AI automation workflows, identify gaps or bottlenecks, and recommend improvements aligned with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate end-to-end AI and automation workflows to determine whether processes are truly automated versus AI-assisted manual work.
- Assess the selection and use of AI models, agents, and automation tools to ensure they are appropriate for the problem and effectively integrated.
- Partner with technical and business stakeholders to understand how AI agents operate within real-world workflows.
- Identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, or failure points in automation pipelines and propose actionable improvements.
- Provide architectural and technical guidance to improve automation scalability, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
- Help define success metrics for automation initiatives, including reduction in manual effort, cycle-time improvements, and operational efficiency.
- Serve as a technical advisor, aligning AI automation strategies with broader business goals and outcomes.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Experience: 5+ years of experience in AI/ML systems, automation engineering, or solutions architecture. Proven experience integrating AI models or AI agents into production workflows.
Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with Python for automation, scripting, or integration. Hands-on experience with Power Automate or similar workflow automation platforms. A strong understanding of how automation and AI should be applied to deliver measurable business impact is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience evaluating AI agent frameworks or agent-based process automation.
- Familiarity with Microsoft's AI ecosystem, including Copilot-enabled development tools.
- Experience working across cross-functional teams (engineering, product, operations, business stakeholders).
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical guidance and recommendations.
- A strong analytical mindset with a focus on operational efficiency and continuous improvement.
Compensation & Benefits
The pay range for this position is estimated to be $55.00/hr - $60.00/hr. A specific rate will be determined based on the selected candidate's experience and qualifications.
