Our client is seeking a SAP Manufacturing Consultant in Midlothian, TX.

Role Description

SAP Manufacturing Consultant responsible for functional ownership and operational integrity of SAP and select non SAP manufacturing applications.
The consultant will act as an Application Guardian, supporting live production environments, managing enhancement requests, and coordinating with application support partners.
Currently only one person performs this role, so this position has high visibility and responsibility.
SAP Modules - Scope & Priority
Primary (Required):
PP - Production Planning
PM - Plant Maintenance
QM - Quality Management
Nice to Have:
MM - Materials Management
CO - Controlling
Integration between SAP and Microsoft applications
Exposure to MES / L2 systems strongly preferred
Application Guardian Responsibilities (SAP & Non SAP)
Accountable for performance, integrity, and continuity of applications under ownership:
Owns application stability and performance
Manages application support partners for:
Incident resolution
Service requests
Enhancements
Works with users to:
Define enhancement requirements
Validate functionality
Ensure no business disruption
Develops SOWs for enhancements
Reviews and validates vendor estimates
Oversees testing and production deployment

Skills & Requirements

Core SAP Functional / Technical Fundamentals (Must Demonstrate)
Candidates must be able to:
Explain end to end manufacturing business processes (not just T codes)
Demonstrate strong understanding of SAP master data (and why it matters)
Explain data flow, dependencies, and impacts
Reference relevant SAP tables for their modules
Understand core SAP concepts across the manufacturing lifecycle
Module Specific Depth (Evaluated During Interview)
Candidate should demonstrate depth in PP / PM / QM, including:
Configuration knowledge (when & why, not memorized steps)
Transactional flows and system controls
Handling of organizational structures:
Plants
Storage locations
Company codes
Integration points with:
Other SAP modules
MES / L2 systems
Understanding of ECC vs S/4HANA differences (if applicable)
Modules assessed:
PP
PM
QM
MM (nice to have)
CO (nice to have)
Troubleshooting & Production Support (Critical)
Must be comfortable supporting live production systems:
Structured, logical problem solving approach
Identifies root cause before applying fixes
Knows where to troubleshoot:
Logs
Dumps
Queues
Error messages
Can discuss common production issues and real resolutions
Calm under pressure in production incidents
