Position Title: MHS Health Systems Specialist – Vertica SQL / HDI Reporting & Analytics
Location: Remote (U.S.) or onsite in Tysons Corner, VA or San Antonio, TX
Travel: Up to 1–2 times per year for team meetings

Pay Rate: Up to $115,000 annually (flexible for senior candidates)
Position Description:
We are seeking an MHS Health Systems Specialist with strong experience in Vertica SQL, healthcare analytics, and backend reporting development within MHS GENESIS or Oracle Cerner environments. This role supports enterprise healthcare data initiatives by developing advanced reporting and analytics capabilities across Health Data Intelligence (HDI) and modern analytics platforms.
The ideal candidate brings experience working with large healthcare datasets, revenue cycle analytics, and enterprise reporting platforms to deliver insights that improve financial performance, operational efficiency, and system reliability. This position will play a key role in building and maintaining HDI reports, SQL-based data models, and executive-level dashboards used by technical and operational leadership.
This role is well suited for professionals with experience in healthcare data analytics, revenue cycle performance reporting, and enterprise healthcare data platforms such as MHS GENESIS, Oracle Cerner, or similar EHR ecosystems.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain Health Data Intelligence (HDI) reports supporting healthcare revenue cycle and operational analytics
• Write and optimize Vertica SQL queries, views, and reusable datasets for reporting and data analysis
• Extract, analyze, and interpret healthcare financial and operational data across enterprise data platforms
• Design and build dashboards and analytic products using tools such as Tableau or Power BI
• Support performance monitoring and KPI development across revenue cycle initiatives including billing, collections, denials, and accounts receivable analytics
• Translate business and operational questions into data-driven analytical solutions
• Perform data validation, data lineage analysis, and quality assurance checks to ensure analytical accuracy and compliance
• Investigate and resolve data discrepancies related to charge capture, billing edits, registration issues, and reporting anomalies
• Collaborate with system administrators and technical teams to ensure healthcare systems support required business processes
• Produce analytic documentation including methodology documentation, data dictionaries, and executive reporting summaries
• Support system upgrades, testing, and analytics validation across healthcare data platforms
• Participate in ITSM processes including incident, change, and problem management
Required Skills/Education:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
• Experience working with Vertica SQL for analytics or reporting development
• Experience developing HDI reports or working with healthcare analytics platforms
• Experience working with large healthcare datasets and enterprise reporting environments
• Strong SQL development experience within modern analytics or data warehouse ecosystems
• Ability to analyze complex data and translate findings into clear reporting insights
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical and operational stakeholders
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience supporting MHS GENESIS or Oracle Cerner healthcare systems
• Experience with healthcare revenue cycle analytics (billing, claims, denials, A/R)
• Experience using Tableau, Power BI, Python, or SAP BusinessObjects
• Experience supporting federal healthcare or DoD healthcare environments
