Job Title: Senior Workday Financials Developer
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Workday Financials Developer with 8–10+ years of experience to lead hands-on development, configuration, integrations, reporting, and security across Workday Financials. This role is predominantly technical and development-focused (approximately 80%), with a smaller but important emphasis on functional analysis, stakeholder collaboration, and business process alignment (approximately 20%).
The ideal candidate is a deep Workday Financials technologist who can design, build, troubleshoot, and optimize complex solutions while partnering with functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable, high-quality Workday configurations.
Primary Responsibilities (80% – Development & Technical Focus)
Serve as the primary Workday Financials developer, owning hands-on configuration and technical delivery across:
General Ledger (GL)
Accounts Payable (AP)
Accounts Receivable (AR)
Procurement
Revenue Management
Cash Management
Banking & Settlement
Customer Accounts, Billing, Invoicing
Design, develop, and maintain Workday integrations, including:
Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB)
Inbound and Outbound integrations
File-based and third-party vendor integrations
Integration scheduling and monitoring using JAMS Job Scheduler
Build and support Workday reporting solutions, including:
Simple, Advanced, and Matrix reports
Custom and Advanced Reports
Complex Calculated Fields across multiple Business Objects
Performance-optimized, reusable reporting assets
Configure and enhance Customer Contracts, Billing Schedules, Invoices, Revenue Recognition Schedules, and related financial processing
Own Workday Security configuration, including:
Role-Based and User-Based Security Groups
User access assignments and troubleshooting
Debugging and resolving complex access and permission issues
Lead production support and issue resolution, including:
Troubleshooting configuration, integration, reporting, and security defects
Performing deep-dive analysis to identify root causes
Documenting and presenting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) findings
Coordinating with Workday consultants and vendors to resolve platform-level issues
Manage and execute Workday bi-annual release activities, including:
Reviewing release notes and previews
Assessing impact to existing configurations and integrations
Regression testing and validation
Leveraging new features where beneficial while ensuring SLA stability
Participate in and support test automation efforts, including exposure to Kainos test automation
Secondary Responsibilities (20% – Functional & Analyst Focus)
Partner with finance and business stakeholders to:
Gather and clarify requirements
Translate business needs into technical and configuration solutions
Provide design recommendations aligned with Workday best practices
Support Business Process Framework (BPF) design, including:
End-to-end business process configuration
Approval workflows and exception handling
Review Workday roadmap items and upcoming functionality to:
Identify enhancement opportunities
Provide guidance on platform direction and best practices
Prepare and present status updates, technical summaries, and release impact assessments to stakeholders and leadership
Utilize JIRA and JQL to manage development work, defects, enhancements, and reporting
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers and analysts
Required Qualifications
8–10+ years of hands-on Workday Financials development experience
Strong technical expertise in:
GL, AP, AR, Procurement, Revenue Management, Cash Management, Banking
Advanced experience with:
Workday Reporting (Simple, Advanced, Matrix)
Calculated Fields and Business Objects
EIB and Workday integrations (Inbound/Outbound)
Solid understanding of:
Customer Contracts, Billing, Invoicing, Revenue Recognition
Strong experience managing Workday security (RBAC and UBAC)
Experience supporting Workday bi-annual releases end to end
Working knowledge of JIRA and JQL
Experience with JAMS Job Scheduler
Proven ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues independently
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Preferred Skills
Experience with Vertex tax integrations
Familiarity with Kainos test automation
Prior experience in large-scale or enterprise Workday Financials environments
