Role Overview
We are seeking a Payloads Design Engineer (Level 3) to join a team focused on the design and build of aircraft interiors, such as stow bins and crew areas. This role involves managing the structural and mechanical aspects of interior systems throughout the product lifecycle. The position requires supporting production fabrication, resolving design questions from the manufacturing floor, and contributing to an environment of continuous learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, integrate, and document structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design.
- Develop, maintain, and modify payload system and component designs using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools.
- Support the production floor during fabrication and builds, addressing design-related questions.
- Assist in performing tests to validate and verify that systems and components meet all requirements and specifications.
- Support the management of supplier performance, test, and production activities to optimize design and achieve program goals.
- Contribute to the development of new design and analysis processes to improve efficiency and quality.
- Investigate emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's or Master's of Science degree from an accredited course of study in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Structural engineering. Technology degrees are not applicable for this role.
Experience: A minimum of five years of related work experience with a Bachelor's degree, or three years of related work experience with a Master's degree. Candidates should be able to articulate their technical experience and capabilities.
Technical Skills: At least five years of experience with 3-D modeling tools such as CATIA, SOLIDWORKS, Pro-E, or 3DX.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in aerospace engineering, specifically with design and engineering release processes.
- Experience working within a demanding production environment.
- Working knowledge of standard business software, including the MS Office Suite.
- Understanding of FAA Title 14 Part 25 and/or EASA equivalent regulations.
- A motivated attitude with a willingness to learn and ask questions.
