Client Note: I will not submit relocation candidates for this role if a candidate does not live within 45-minute drive of the client, it will be very difficult for me to submit them. They would need a very compelling reason to go onsite to Wilmington 4 days per week
They are calling this a DBA/Data Architect they are primarily working in SQL Server, performance tuning, data ingestion etc.
Most important experience is SQL Server DBA knowledge, including performance tuning, data ingestion, setting up data tables, troubleshooting issues, maintaining uptime, performance etc.
Job Description
- Build, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases, schemas, indexing, and data structures
- Develop and optimize Stored Procedures, T SQL logic, and ETL components in Visual Studio
- Ingest data from diverse sources and deliver processed outputs to downstream applications
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain ETL jobs, scheduled tasks, and automated workflows
- Investigate discrepancies, system issues, and integration failures to ensure reliable data flows
- Support operational and financial month end reporting processes
- Maintain enterprise dataflows, transformation logic, and data validation controls
- Design and maintain dimensional models for reporting and analytics
- Support reporting workflows, including Cognos/Excel based operational and financial reporting
- Manage SQL Server security (roles, permissions, access reviews) and maintain logs, backups, and audit documentation
- Maintain documentation for dataflows, ETL processes, integrations, and operational procedures; provide updates and issue summaries to leadership
Required Skills & Experience
- 8+ years of SQL Server development and administration, including installation, configuration, tuning, and maintenance
- Advanced T SQL (Stored Procedures, functions, triggers, complex queries, performance tuning)
- ETL development using Microsoft Visual Studio (SSIS or similar)
- Strong schema design, database architecture, indexing, partitions, and constraints
- Experience with SQL Server security frameworks (roles, permissions, least privilege access)
- Proven ability to ingest data from databases, APIs, and file formats (CSV, Excel, JSON, XML, SFTP)
- Experience delivering data to downstream systems via integrations or flat file exports
- Solid dimensional modelling (facts, dimensions, star/snowflake schemas)
- Troubleshooting SQL Server, ETL pipelines, performance issues, and integration failures
- Experience supporting enterprise data warehouses/reporting environments
- Knowledge of Cognos or Power BI; IQMS experience is a plus
- Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills
