Position Title: IT Director
Employment Type: Direct Hire
Location: Minneapolis, MN
Salary Range: $125,000 - $165,000
The IT Director serves as the organization's top technology leader, responsible for defining the IT strategy and overseeing all major technology functions. This includes infrastructure, enterprise systems, cybersecurity, compliance, and digital transformation. The role combines strategic vision with hands on execution and works closely with leaders across the business to ensure technology enables growth, efficiency, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Business Systems & Process Optimization
- Build and manage the roadmap for enterprise applications such as ERP, WMS, CRM, eCommerce, and analytics tools.
- Lead system evaluations, selections, upgrades, and implementations.
- Drive continuous improvement through process redesign and system optimization.
- Establish KPIs to measure system performance, user adoption, and ROI.
- Partner with business units to eliminate inefficiencies and improve workflows through technology.
Information Security, Data Privacy & Compliance
- Develop and enforce security policies, standards, and governance models.
- Oversee risk assessments, identity and access management, encryption, monitoring, and incident response.
- Ensure compliance with applicable data protection regulations and audit requirements.
- Manage third party security practices and vendor data handling obligations.
Infrastructure & Technology Operations
- Oversee all IT infrastructure including networks, servers, cloud environments, hardware, and endpoints.
- Maintain strong uptime, reliability, and SLA performance for critical systems.
- Lead disaster recovery and business continuity planning and testing.
- Manage cloud architecture, licensing, and cost optimization.
- Direct vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and lifecycle planning.
Leadership & Organizational Alignment
- Lead, mentor, and develop the IT team; set clear goals and expectations.
- Build a culture of innovation, accountability, service, and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with executive and departmental leaders to align technology with business priorities.
- Lead change management efforts for major system rollouts and enhancements.
- Develop and deliver user training strategies to support technology adoption.
Financial & Strategic Management
- Develop and manage annual IT budgets, including capital, operating, and personnel costs.
- Create business cases and cost benefit analyses for major initiatives.
- Monitor technology spending and identify cost saving opportunities.
- Lead large scale IT projects using structured project governance and risk management.
Emerging Technologies & Innovation
- Evaluate new technologies that can enhance operations or create competitive advantage.
- Lead pilot programs and proof of concept initiatives.
- Provide strategic insight into technology trends and future-state opportunities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or related field (Master's preferred).
- 12+ years of progressive IT experience, including 6+ years in IT leadership.
- 8+ years managing enterprise applications in manufacturing, distribution, or similar environments.
- Proven experience leading major system implementations and managing IT budgets of $300K-$2M+.
- Demonstrated ability to build and scale IT teams.
- Strong expertise in infrastructure, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, and compliance.
- History of driving process improvement and supporting high-growth environments.
