Job Overview

The PC Support Technician will serve as a key point of contact for end users and the project team, providing technical support for desktop systems, hardware, and software. This role focuses on installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and customer support in a fast-paced, 24/7 help desk environment.


Education Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
    OR
  • Four (4) years of equivalent work experience
  • Relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis

General Experience Expectations

  • Typically one (1) to two (2) years of IT experience
  • Basic knowledge of hardware, software, and troubleshooting techniques

Key Responsibilities

< data-start="1090" data-end="1130">Desktop Support and Maintenance
  • Configure and install software on desktops and laptops
  • Perform software deployments, upgrades, and hardware rollouts
  • Maintain desktop systems, applications, and hardware
  • Support mobile workforce users
< data-start="1349" data-end="1375">Technical Support
  • Provide Tier 2 support for desktops, laptops, and LAN environments
  • Troubleshoot issues using scripts, checklists, and standard procedures
  • Escalate complex issues to Tier 3 support when necessary
  • Document incidents, resolutions, and troubleshooting steps
< data-start="1647" data-end="1681">User Support and Training
  • Deliver end user training as needed
  • Provide high quality customer service and technical assistance
< data-start="1790" data-end="1832">System Testing and Implementation
  • Participate in testing and evaluation of new desktop technologies
  • Implement and validate prototypes based on technical requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience providing Tier 2 desktop support (PCs, printers, scanners, etc.)
  • Experience installing, troubleshooting, and supporting:
    • Windows Operating Systems
    • Microsoft Office Suite
    • Outlook and web browsers
  • Experience supporting hardware and software in both networked and standalone environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience troubleshooting issues over the phone
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking
  • Experience with 3270 emulation software
  • Hands-on experience repairing hardware (RAM, hard drives, processors, peripherals, etc.)
  • Experience with desktop imaging tools
  • Experience supporting:
    • VoIP phone systems
    • VPN connectivity
  • Experience working in a criminal justice environment
  • Knowledge of IT standards in regulated or secure environments

Work Environment and Requirements

  • 24/7 help desk operation with rotating shifts and possible holiday coverage
  • Must complete Security Awareness Training within 30 days of hire
  • Must pass a Level II background check
