Embedded Systems Engineer | East Lansing, MI

Salary Range: $82,000 - $127,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We collaborate with manufacturing companies in the East Lansing region seeking Embedded Systems Engineers. These employers partner with us because they want real insight into candidates-not just resumes. By joining our network, you gain access to roles worth considering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing and implementing embedded software for manufacturing equipment.
  • Troubleshooting and debugging hardware and software issues on production lines.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and specifications.
  • Developing and executing test plans for embedded systems in manufacturing.
  • Optimizing existing embedded systems for performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Providing technical support and training for manufacturing personnel on embedded systems.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in embedded software development for manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ for microcontroller programming and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, EtherCAT, PROFINET).
  • Demonstrated ability to debug hardware and software issues on embedded systems.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherCAT, PROFINET, Modbus).
  • Familiarity with functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 13849, IEC 61508).
  • Proficiency in real-time operating systems (RTOS) beyond basic embedded loops.
  • Demonstrated experience in a manufacturing environment, understanding production lifecycles and challenges.
