Position Overview

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Program Coordinator to support a specialized environmental health and licensing program focused on protecting children and families from lead and radon exposure.

This contractor will work directly with licensing and environmental management staff to ensure homes impacted by lead exposure are properly inspected and remediated in a safe and durable manner. Reporting to the Program Manager, the ideal candidate will help coordinate field operations, process licensing applications, maintain compliance documentation, and support program operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with staff overseeing lead case surveillance to ensure risk assessments for children with elevated blood lead levels are properly assigned and completed.

  • Track staff progress on EPA grant deliverables.

  • Review and process radon and lead license applications, including direct communication with applicants to obtain required documentation and payments.

  • Partner with the finance team to track payment processing.

  • Monitor and manage supply inventory for field staff; coordinate new and refill orders.

  • Oversee equipment inventory, including refurbishing and replacement coordination with vendors.

  • Support field staff with recordkeeping, including scanning and shredding HIPAA-protected records.

  • Assist Program Manager with onboarding new employees and contractors.

  • Manage receipt, retention, and electronic filing of records submitted via mail or fax.

  • Research and respond to inquiries from licensees, staff, and the public.

  • Provide administrative and logistical support at outreach events.

  • Maintain working knowledge of lead, radon, and healthy homes regulations.


Job Requirements

  • Ability to learn and apply moderately complex program rules and procedures.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to read and interpret typed and handwritten documents.

  • Experience documenting procedures and maintaining accurate records.

  • Sound judgment in handling sensitive, HIPAA-protected information.

  • Ability to maintain production and accuracy standards.

  • Professional communication skills when interacting with government officials, community members, and environmental consultants.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, and webinar/conference tools.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Effective research skills using internet and traditional resources.

  • Interest in environmental health issues, particularly lead and radon exposure.


Skills & Experience Required

  • Minimum 2 years of strong organizational and multitasking experience.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience editing PDFs in Adobe Acrobat.

  • Minimum 2 years of familiarity with lead and radon health/environmental regulations.

  • Detail-oriented with strong confidentiality awareness.

  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft Financials (Highly Desired).
