5+ years data engineering with Spark-based ingestion/processing.3+ years with Data Lakehouse architecture + Python, PySpark, Kafka, Airflow, GCS, BigQuery, DataProc, Cloud Composer.Hands-on experience building data flows with Kafka, Flink, and Spark streaming.Plusses:Experience using AI for code generation, context engineering, and prompt engineering.Deep background in cloud-based data lakes/warehouses + automated pipelines.Cloud certifications (Google Cloud Platform, Azure, AWS).Frontend/UI experience using React and Node.js.Job Summary:In this contingent Specialty Software Engineering assignment, the Lead Cloud Data Platform Engineer will work on complex, large-scale initiatives driving the modernization of Wells Fargo's Cyber Security Data Ecosystem. The role centers on building AI-enabled, cloud-native data capabilities on hybrid Google Cloud Platform/Azure infrastructure. This engineer will work on high-impact data products, automation tools, and next-generation analytics leveraging Spark, Flink, Kafka, Google Cloud Platform, and modern agentic AI frameworks. The position requires deep technical expertise, strategic collaboration, and the ability to evaluate and solve multi-faceted engineering challenges while contributing to large-scale planning and transformation efforts.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:- Implement and operationalize AI-enabled data capabilities on Google Cloud.
- Build automated solutions for data governance, lineage, quality, metadata, compliance, and ingestion.
- Collaborate with principal engineers, product managers, and data engineers to plan and deliver key platform capabilities.
- Create and support Spark-based ingestion and data processing pipelines.
- Develop streaming data flows using Kafka, Flink, and Spark Streaming.
- Contribute to Data Lakehouse design using Python, PySpark, Airflow, GCS, BigQuery, DataProc, Cloud Composer.
- Leverage agentic AI frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph/ADK, RAG, GraphRAG, MCP) for next-gen automation.
- Participate in the migration of data ecosystems from on-prem to Google Cloud Platform/Azure.
- Innovate and evangelize modern data engineering best practices across the team.
- Work in an agile environment delivering high-impact cloud-native data capabilities.
