This role is responsible for delivering complete mechanical engineering solutions, from initial load calculations and system design through controls integration, commissioning, and operational validation.

The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to develop efficient, reliable, and sustainable mechanical systems that meet business, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop HVAC systems, including cooling, heating, ventilation, and air distribution solutions for new and existing facilities.

Perform mechanical engineering calculations such as cooling and heating load analysis, equipment sizing, airflow calculations, and energy performance assessments.

Develop engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documentation using AutoCAD and other design tools.

Create, review, and optimize sequences of operation for HVAC equipment and Building Management Systems (BMS).

Support BMS integration, controls programming, point-to-point verification, system troubleshooting, and performance optimization.

Lead and support system commissioning activities, including functional performance testing and validation of installed mechanical systems.

Ensure mechanical systems comply with applicable codes, standards, safety requirements, and sustainability objectives.

Coordinate with architectural, engineering, and construction partners to establish design criteria and review project deliverables.

Prepare technical specifications, cost estimates, bid packages, and contractor scope documents.

Review construction and installation progress to verify compliance with approved designs, project schedules, and quality standards.

Analyze operational data to identify opportunities for energy efficiency, reliability improvements, and lifecycle cost reduction.

Provide technical support for facility maintenance, operational improvements, and infrastructure upgrades.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering with a strong focus on HVAC system design and implementation.

5+ years of experience working with Building Management Systems (BMS) and controls.

Experience delivering complete engineering packages from conceptual design through commissioning and operational handover.

Hands-on experience performing cooling and heating load calculations, equipment selection, controls integration, and system validation.

Knowledge of HVAC industry standards, building codes, and best engineering practices.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project coordination skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with HVAC controls, automation systems, and building optimization strategies.

Knowledge of commissioning processes, testing procedures, and performance verification methodologies.

Experience supporting facility upgrades, retrofits, and capital improvement projects.

Familiarity with energy efficiency initiatives and sustainable building design principles.

Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward professional registration is a plus.
