The Insights discipline at client empowers to make confident, data-informed decisions by illuminating the diverse experiences, behaviors, and needs of players around the world. As part of this interdisciplinary group of researchers, analysts, scientists, and strategists, the Moderator Contractor will support player-focused research initiatives for VALORANT.
In this role, you will work closely with researchers and the Global Research Operations team to execute high-quality playtests, lab sessions, and group discussions. Your expertise in user research moderation will ensure that playtests generate clear, actionable player insights that inform product and design decisions across gameplay, cosmetics, and features.
Job Responsibilities
- Partner with Client s Global Research Operations team to coordinate logistics and execution of research studies, including scheduling, participant recruitment, and playtest moderation.
Translate research requirements into clear participant recruitment criteria for playtests and studies.
Assist with the setup and execution of playtest and survey designs.
Moderate usability studies, expert reviews, and playtests designed by researchers, ensuring high-quality data collection.
Observe participants during playtests, take detailed notes, and compile observations into actionable insights.
Support researchers in synthesizing findings and creating clear, digestible research reports.
Assist with end-to-end execution of user tests, including material preparation, lab setup, day-of test facilitation, and post-session cleanup.
Facilitate group discussions with players to gather qualitative feedback and perspectives.
Support data management and cleanup activities related to research studies.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 6 months of experience in user research, usability testing, or group discussion moderation.
Experience playing VALORANT or strong familiarity with its systems, mechanics, and player terminology.
Hands-on experience with survey tools such as Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey, QuestionPro, or similar platforms.
Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Ability to work in-person at Riot s Los Angeles office.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- BA or BS in Psychology, Anthropology, Cognitive Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, or a related field.
Experience working in the video game industry.
Understanding of game design fundamentals and the game development production cycle.
Prior experience running playtests or live-production research studies.
Familiarity with research and analytics tools such as Qualtrics, Q, Sawtooth, and/or Tableau.
