Job Description:

Apex Systems is seeking two Senior Unified Communications Engineers to provide technical leadership in the design, implementation, and support of enterprise collaboration and communications services in a highly regulated financial services environment supporting one of our enterprise financial services clients. These resources can sit in or near Charlotte, NC, Wayne, PA or Plano, TX.

This is a senior-level role with expectations for strong ownership, sound engineering judgment, and the ability to influence platform direction and standards across teams. You'll partner with security, network, and end-user computing teams to drive consistent patterns for reliability and control, lead response on high-impact incidents, and conduct root-cause analysis when services degrade. You will be expected to proactively identify gaps, propose solutions, and guide stakeholders toward decisions that improve resiliency, user experience, and operational maturity.

Job Responsibilities:

Provide senior-level technical leadership for unified communications and collaboration services (voice, video, chat, meetings, conferencing) in a regulated enterprise environment

Own platform architecture and standards, influencing design decisions across network, security, identity, and end-user computing teams

Administer and troubleshoot major communications platforms such as Zoom, Webex, Google Workspace, and equivalent enterprise collaboration solutions (including client, room, and service-side components as applicable)

Lead end-to-end implementation initiatives: requirements gathering, solution design, pilot planning, production rollout, and operational handoff

Troubleshoot complex issues across networking, identity, endpoints, and cloud services to restore service quickly and prevent recurrence; lead root-cause investigations and corrective actions

Partner with network and security teams to ensure designs align with standards (e.g., firewall/proxy rules, QoS, certificates/TLS, conditional access, logging/monitoring)

Develop and maintain operational runbooks, support procedures, and platform governance (including change, incident, and problem management)

Evaluate vendor capabilities and new features with consideration for security, compliance, availability, and user experience; make recommendations and drive adoption

Monitor service health and usage trends; define and execute reliability, performance, and user-experience improvement plans

Provide escalation support and mentorship to junior engineers; communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders during outages and change windows

Experience:

7+ years of experience in unified communications, collaboration engineering, or adjacent infrastructure/enterprise systems roles, including ownership of production platforms

Hands-on experience administering and troubleshooting communications platforms such as Zoom, Webex, and related UC services (voice/video/meetings/messaging)

Broad foundational knowledge of networking and security concepts to support successful implementations and effective incident response (e.g., DNS/DHCP, routing, firewalls/proxies, VPN, QoS, certificates/TLS, SSO/MFA/conditional access)

Nice to have: Experience supporting or integrating with Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Meet, identity/integration points)
