Job Description:

Apex is looking to hire a Vulnerability Response Team Lead for a financial client they support.

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Vulnerability Response Team Lead to oversee vulnerability management and patching initiatives across enterprise infrastructure and application stacks. This role requires strong leadership experience, technical expertise in vulnerability remediation, and a proven ability to manage complex environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of security professionals responsible for vulnerability identification, assessment, and remediation.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for vulnerability management and patching processes across operating systems, middleware, and databases.
  • Develop and enforce patching standards and schedules to maintain compliance and minimize risk.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and security teams to ensure timely remediation of vulnerabilities.
  • Oversee configuration and patching activities for OS, middleware, and database environments.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, ensuring best practices in vulnerability response.
  • Prepare and deliver reports on vulnerability status, remediation progress, and risk posture to senior leadership.
Required Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Team Lead in vulnerability management or related security functions.
  • Proven expertise in vulnerability management and patching across enterprise environments.
  • Hands-on experience with OS, middleware, and database patching or configuration.
  • Strong technical background in infrastructure and application stacks.
  • Familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., Qualys, Tenable, Rapid7) and patch management solutions.
Preferred Skills
  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks (e.g., PCI, SOX).
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with automation tools for patching and configuration management (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).


Location: Charlotte, Plano, NJ or Atlanta

Onsite expectation: 3 days onsite/2 days remote - HYBRID

Pay range: $70-$73/HR w2
