Role Overview
We are seeking a senior PowerShell Automation Engineer with extensive experience designing, architecting, and delivering enterprise-scale automation solutions in complex environments. This role requires a technical expert with deep mastery of PowerShell to solve challenging automation, systems integration, and infrastructure engineering problems. The ideal candidate will serve as a senior technical resource for PowerShell development efforts, driving architecture decisions and mentoring engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a PowerShell technical authority and lead architect for enterprise automation initiatives.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain advanced PowerShell scripts, modules, and enterprise automation frameworks.
- Build reusable, scalable, and resilient automation solutions to streamline operations and reduce manual effort.
- Develop and maintain enterprise-grade PowerShell libraries for large-scale production environments.
- Automate administrative and operational processes across Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and Azure.
- Design and implement automation solutions that integrate with REST APIs, Microsoft Graph, databases, and DevOps pipelines.
- Develop advanced automation utilizing PowerShell 7+, runspaces, parallel processing, and object-oriented scripting.
- Implement robust error handling, logging, monitoring, and performance optimization within automation solutions.
- Establish scripting standards, code review practices, and governance processes.
- Lead technical design sessions and provide architectural guidance for complex automation projects.
- Support and enhance CI/CD processes through the integration of PowerShell automation.
- Partner with infrastructure, cloud, security, and DevOps teams to design strategic automation solutions.
- Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership to elevate automation capabilities.
- Troubleshoot complex automation, scripting, and systems integration issues.
- Ensure all automation solutions align with security, compliance, audit, and governance requirements.
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures.
Required Qualifications
Experience:- 10+ years of professional experience in PowerShell development, automation engineering, or systems engineering.
- Proven experience architecting and delivering large-scale automation solutions in complex enterprise environments.
- Expert-level PowerShell knowledge, including building complex scripts, modules, classes, and reusable libraries.
- Deep understanding of PowerShell internals, runspaces, remoting, module architecture, and performance optimization.
- Strong expertise in Windows Server administration, Active Directory, Group Policy, and PowerShell Remoting.
- Extensive experience with Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, and Entra ID.
- Deep experience using Azure PowerShell, Microsoft Graph PowerShell, REST APIs, JSON, and XML.
- Strong knowledge of secure credential management, secrets vaults, and role-based access controls.
- Experience implementing enterprise-scale automation governance and scripting best practices.
- Advanced experience with Git, GitHub, Azure DevOps, or similar source control platforms.
- Experience integrating automation solutions into CI/CD pipelines.
- Demonstrated ability to design automation solutions from concept through production deployment.
- Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proven track record as a technical lead or automation architect for complex initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI/CD.
- Expert knowledge of Pester and automated testing frameworks for PowerShell.
- Deep experience with PowerShell 7+, Desired State Configuration (DSC), and Azure Automation.
- Experience building self-service automation platforms and automation-as-a-service solutions.
- Exposure to ServiceNow, monitoring platforms, SIEM solutions, or enterprise orchestration platforms.
- Experience operating within large enterprise environments with strict governance and regulatory requirements.
- Strong understanding of cloud engineering and automation across Azure services.
- Experience contributing to PowerShell Gallery modules or open-source projects.
- Knowledge of C#, .NET, SQL, or Python.
- Experience mentoring senior engineers and leading organization-wide automation modernization efforts.
