Summary

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Sr. Project Manager for a Consulting assignment with one of our premier clients.

Project Planning and Initiation:
  • Develop comprehensive effort-based project plans, including defining project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Ensure work schedule is clearly defined, with task effort and duration estimated, and allocated to named team members.
  • Conduct stakeholder analysis and gather project requirements to ensure alignment with stakeholders' expectations.
  • Create project charters and obtain necessary approvals to initiate projects. Project scope should match signed contracts.
Project Execution and Control:
  • Coordinate project activities, assign tasks, and monitor progress to ensure adherence to project timelines and milestones.
  • Manage project risks, identify potential issues, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct regular project status meetings, track project performance, and adjust as needed.
  • Ensure cost management plan is clearly defined, with calculation for both planned and earned value.
Stakeholder Management and Communication:
  • Produce weekly status reports and participate in meetings according to the PMO 2.0 governance methodology.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to manage expectations, address concerns, and foster positive relationships.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement and involvement throughout the project lifecycle.
Resource and Team Management:
  • Identify project resource requirements and allocate resources effectively to optimize project performance.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to project team members, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Construct project resource plan and forecast 4-6 weeks out. This should be regularly communicated to the IT PMO.
  • Manage timesheets, which are completed and reviewed weekly.
  • Manage project resource allocation. This should include fully loaded resources, along with the percent allocation owned by Client PMs.
Quality Assurance and Control:
  • Define quality standards and metrics for project deliverables, ensuring project deliverables and status are tracked and reviewed as they become available.
  • Conduct regular quality reviews and inspections to identify areas for improvement, utilizing red flag escalations as needed.
  • Ensure risks and issues are documented in CRAID, ensuring no outstanding CRAID items are past due.
Change and Scope Management:
  • Monitor project scope and evaluate change requests for their impact on project objectives.
  • Facilitate change control processes, assessing change requests, and implementing only CAB approved changes.
  • Ensure proper documentation and communication of scope changes to relevant stakeholders.
Procurement and Vendor Management:
  • Identify project procurement needs and develop procurement strategies.
  • Conduct vendor evaluations, select suitable vendors, and negotiate contracts.
  • Manage vendor relationships, monitor vendor performance, and resolve any contractual issues.
Knowledge Management and Lessons Learned:
  • Document project knowledge, lessons learned, and best practices for future reference.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing among team members and stakeholders.
  • Continuously improve project management methodologies and processes based on lessons learned.
Reporting and Documentation:
  • Generate regular project status reports, including progress, budget, and risk updates.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
  • Provide timely and relevant information to stakeholders and senior management.
