Overview: 

• Salary: W2 hourly: $75 - $85/hr 
• Location: Albany, NY (Hybrid)

We are seeking a BI & Data Visualization Specialist who will support our NYS client project. This role is responsible for transforming complex program and operational data into meaningful insights that drive decision-making across health and human services programs such as SNAP and Child Support.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in data modeling, visualization tools (Power BI and Tableau), and stakeholder collaboration. This role requires a balance of technical skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to communicate insights effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Duties:

•  Design, build, and optimize data models in Power BI and Tableau to support program and operational reporting.
•  Develop intuitive, user-friendly dashboards and reports tailored to business and program needs.
•  Analyze data to identify trends, performance gaps, and actionable insights.
•  Translate complex datasets into clear, visually compelling reports for stakeholders.
•  Collaborate with leadership, developers, and external stakeholders to gather requirements and refine reporting solutions.
•  Maintain documentation, ensure data accuracy, and monitor report performance over time.
•  Provide training and support to users to promote effective adoption and understanding of dashboards.
•  Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data sources, data loading, and visualization logic.

Mandatory Qualifications :

•  Between four (4) and seven (7) years of experience as a specialist.
•  4–7 years of experience working with both Power BI and Tableau including hands-on development of reports, dashboards, and data models and a demonstrated ability to translate raw data into visually meaningful insights for decision-makers.· 4-7 years - Proficiency in SQL, including T-SQL, SSRS, Power Query, and data extraction techniques.
•  4-7 years - Familiarity with Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) and complex calculations in Power BI.
•  4-7 years - Experience with data modeling techniques and relational database design.
•  4 years of experience using data warehouse concepts and enterprise-level reporting strategies.
•  4-7 years - Strong analytical skills with the ability to detect patterns and anomalies in large datasets.
•  4-7 years - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially when presenting data to executive leadership or cross-agency partners. Please be prepared to provide examples.
•  4-7 years - Experience working in public sector environments or with inter-agency collaboration teams
