Position: Secret Cleared Systems Admin
Location: EADS AFB - Rome, NY (100% ONSITE)
Duration: 6 Month Contract to Hire
MUST HAVE:- Ability to obtain and maintain an Active Secret Clearance | Bachelor's Degree & 4-6+ years of experience | Security+ CE (please send copy)
- Experience with Operations and Maintenance of Windows and Linux Operating Systems
- Experience/Exposure to ACAS and STIGS
This mid-level position offers the opportunity to contribute to the maintenance and optimization of our critical IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of system administration principles, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT- Install, configure, and maintain servers, operating systems (Windows or Linux), applications, and hardware.
- Proactively monitor system performance and identify potential issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems, escalating complex issues to senior staff when necessary.
- Implement and maintain system security measures, including firewalls, antivirus software, and intrusion detection systems.
- Perform regular system backups and recovery procedures.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
- Automate routine tasks using scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python).
- Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Collaborate with other IT teams on projects and initiatives.
- Research and recommend new technologies and solutions to improve system performance and security.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of IT documentation and knowledge base articles.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEEDBring your technology expertise and drive for innovation to GDIT. The Systems Administrator must have:
- Strong understanding of operating systems (Windows or Linux).
- In-depth knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:- Industry certifications such as MCSA, MCSE, RHCSA, or RHCE.
