ASSYST is seeking a skilled Senior Business Analyst to support our client in Austin, TX. This role involves driving enterprise-level data and analytics initiatives, requiring a strong blend of business analysis, data analysis, project management, and Agile delivery expertise. The ideal candidate will independently handle complex tasks, translate business needs into technical solutions, and contribute to expanding reporting and analytics capabilities for large-scale platforms. Additionally, the candidate will serve as a Scrum Master, leading Agile ceremonies, facilitating stakeholder collaboration, and ensuring successful project delivery. This is a contract position based in a hybrid model with 3 days onsite per week in Austin, TX.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and IT teams including Architecture, Development, and Support teams.
- Gather, analyze, and document business and system requirements, translating them into functional and technical specifications.
- Analyze raw data sets to derive insights and support data-driven decision-making.
- Lead business process analysis and reengineering initiatives to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Develop solution options, perform risk assessments, and conduct financial analysis (cost-benefit, ROI, buy vs build).
- Prepare detailed documentation including BRDs, FRDs, user stories, workflows, and process maps.
- Serve as Scrum Master:
- Facilitate sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives
- Coordinate between internal teams, vendors, and business users
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and deliverables.
- Provide status reporting, stakeholder communication, and executive updates.
- Support Quality Assurance (QA) activities including test planning, validation, and UAT coordination.
- Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and data governance standards.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years in Business Analysis, Project Management, enterprise data projects, and Agile delivery (preferably in large/government environments)
- Strong skills in requirements gathering, stakeholder management, data analysis, and process reengineering
- Proven ability to independently manage complex projects
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and vendors
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years with project tools (e.g., Jira), QA/testing, and data reporting
- Experience with structured delivery frameworks (state/federal)
- Agile certifications (CSM, PMI-ACP, or equivalent)
- PMP certification is a plus
