Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Multi-Platform Database Administrator with deep expertise in Oracle Database as the primary focus, along with strong experience in SQL Server and a range of relational and NoSQL database platforms. This critical role centers on ensuring optimal performance, high availability, robust security, and seamless operations of our Oracle database infrastructure, while also supporting SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and cloud-native databases in both on-prem and cloud environments. The ideal candidate demonstrates advanced technical proficiency with Oracle Database as well as a solid background in other database platforms, supporting retail and e-commerce systems. A proactive approach to continuous improvement and innovation in a hybrid environment is essential.
Job Responsibilities:
· Database Management & Optimization:
· Install, configure, and maintain Oracle Server, SQL and other platforms such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and cloud-hosted databases systems (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL) ensuring adherence to best practices.
· Proactively monitor database performance, implement tuning strategies, and eAiciently troubleshoot performance bottlenecks across all supported platforms.
· Design, implement, and manage cross-platform database replication, backup, recovery, and failover strategies to guarantee business continuity and minimize potential downtime.
· Strategically plan and recommend database resource allocation and capacity management to eAectively support both standard operational loads and peak demands.
· Data Security & Compliance:
· Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive database security policies and procedures to safeguard sensitive data and ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., PCI DSS).
· Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments of database environments to proactively identify and mitigate potential risks to data integrity and confidentiality.
· Database Development & Automation:
· Develop and implement automation scripts and tools to streamline routine database administration tasks, improve operational eAiciency, and reduce the potential for human error.
· Collaborate with development teams to optimize database design and query performance for new and existing applications.
· Systems Integration:
· Provide expert support for the seamless integration of database systems with critical retail systems, including Point of Sale (POS), warehousing platforms, e commerce platforms, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and other business applications.
· Actively monitor and troubleshoot data flows and ETL workflows between various systems and databases, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
· Technology Management & Innovation:
· Continuously evaluate emerging database technologies and trends, proactively recommending upgrades, migrations, or the adoption of new solutions to enhance system performance, scalability, and eAiciency.
· Contribute to the development and maintenance of database standards, procedures, documentation, and best practices.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
· 8+ years of hands-on experience in database administration, with a strong focus on Oracle and SQL databases within a retail or cloud-hybrid environment.
· Proven expertise in managing large-scale databases, including performance tuning and
· optimization techniques.
· In-depth knowledge of database security best practices, backup/recovery procedures, and disaster recovery strategies.
· Experience supporting retail systems such as POS, WMS, ERP, and e-commerce platforms.
· Familiarity with cloud-based databases and hybrid cloud environments is highly preferred.
· Proficiency with database management tools and automation scripting languages (e.g., PL/SQL, T-SQL, Shell scripting).
· Experience with database monitoring tools (e.g., SQL Profiler, Oracle Enterprise Manager, SolarWinds, New Relic).
· Experience with cloud database platforms (AWS, Azure, Oracle) is a significant plus.

· Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
