Position Summary

We are seeking a Data Governance Analyst to support enterprise data governance initiatives. This role will focus on metadata curation, developing end-to-end data lineage, maintaining business glossaries, defining data quality rules, and supporting overall data governance functions.

The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring data integrity, accessibility, and compliance across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and administer the organization s business glossary
• Support implementation and usage of metadata and data modeling tools
• Develop and maintain end-to-end data lineage diagrams from source to consumption
• Contribute to the creation and maintenance of data models
• Define and implement data quality rules, thresholds, and validation checks
• Ensure proper documentation and governance of data assets

Technical Responsibilities

Data Catalog & Business Glossary

• Maintain data catalog and associated business metadata
• Support development of data taxonomy, data dictionary, and business glossaries
• Assist in onboarding new data sources into the catalog

Metadata Management

• Identify and document critical data elements (CDEs)
• Maintain and update metadata artifacts, resolving inconsistencies
• Develop and maintain data lineage documentation
• Perform metadata and data quality audits and report findings
• Troubleshoot metadata-related issues and respond to stakeholder queries
• Maintain data classification and sensitivity standards

Data Quality

• Define, document, and implement data quality rules and validation checks
• Monitor data quality metrics and ensure adherence to standards

Tools & Process

• Use workflow and task tracking tools (e.g., JIRA) to manage work
• Support automation initiatives using tools such as Power Platform
• Track progress, identify risks, and support mitigation efforts

Required Experience

• 3 5 years of hands-on experience in data governance, including:

• Metadata management and curation
• Data lineage development
• Business glossary management
• Data quality rule definition and implementation
• Experience with data catalog or metadata tools (e.g., Microsoft Purview, Informatica, Alation, Collibra)
• Strong working knowledge of SQL and data systems architecture
• Familiarity with data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK)
• Excellent attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills

Desired Experience

• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure) or data certifications
• Familiarity with data quality tools and profiling techniques
• Understanding of data quality dimensions (completeness, accuracy, consistency, timeliness)
• Experience with automation tools such as Power Platform
• Exposure to data security or big data environments
