Data Management Consultant (Contingent)

Location: Short Hills, NJ
About the Role

In this contingent assignment, you will serve as a Data Management consultant supporting complex, large-scale initiatives with broad organizational impact. You will partner closely with business and technical stakeholders to assess data challenges, define requirements, and improve data quality and usability across multiple systems. This role requires strong analytical judgment, deep data expertise, and the ability to communicate effectively in complex environments.

Note: This role does not include BI development or reporting resources.
Responsibilities
  • Consult with the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) team to identify, define, and document business and data requirements.
  • Provide strategic recommendations, including data mapping, data lineage, and source system identification.
  • Identify and evaluate data sources across multiple business domains; perform data assessments and profiling.
  • Capture and maintain business and technical metadata by collaborating with application owners and engineering teams.
  • Define, prepare, and execute data quality rules; perform root cause analysis to improve data integrity and usability.
  • Analyze complex, multi-faceted data management challenges that may involve ambiguity, intangibles, or unprecedented factors.
  • Contribute to the resolution of complex issues by applying a strong understanding of data management practices, policies, and compliance requirements.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and issues clearly and consistently to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate strategically with cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery of data initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Data Management
    • Data Integration
    • Data Analysis or Analytics
    • Data Modeling
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience with SQL, data profiling, and data quality analysis.
  • 7+ years of experience documenting ETL processes, data lineage, data mappings, and transformations.
  • 7+ years of experience with at least one major database platform (Oracle, SQL Server, or Teradata).
  • Equivalent experience may be gained through work, consulting, education, training, or military service.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong expertise in data research, analysis, and root cause investigation.
  • Excellent analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience working with BigQuery.
  • Knowledge of commercial banking and lending data.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities in complex data environments.
