Location: Houston, Texas (Hybrid)
Role Overview
This role involves the planning, design, and engineering of communications systems and telecom infrastructure. The position requires managing multiple projects from design to implementation, evaluating new technologies, and providing technical assistance on complex issues. The successful candidate will interact with various stakeholders to ensure projects are completed within time and budget constraints.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, design, engineer, and create documentation for work packages on communications systems, including Microwave, Transport Networks, and OSP Fiber.
- Manage multiple projects from design through to implementation hand-off.
- Evaluate new technologies, products, and materials for potential use.
- Coordinate and support field personnel regarding system installation and implementation.
- Provide technical assistance to business units for complex problem resolutions.
- Draft bid specifications and requests for proposals, and evaluate vendor responses.
- Direct projects by planning the course of action, allocating material resources, and monitoring progress.
- Research federal, state, and local regulations to ensure compliance of communications systems.
- Draft engineering project proposals to define goals, scope, and costs.
- Develop long-term and short-term plans for updating equipment and enhancing existing systems.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field is required. In lieu of a degree, two years of relevant experience for each year of education may be substituted.
Experience: A firm requirement for experience with telecom is necessary. Specific experience should include communications infrastructure such as shelters, towers, critical power systems, racks, MW Radio (PTP, PTMP, licensed/unlicensed), and OSP Fiber.
