Our Challenge:
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Governance Subject Matter Expert (SME) specialized in the Employee Benefits domain, with expertise in Group Benefits and Voluntary Benefits. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in establishing, implementing, and maintaining data governance frameworks, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and security of employee benefits data. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and driving data best practices.

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors.
In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Piscataway, NJ is $130K-150K /year & benefits (see below).
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain data governance policies, standards, and procedures tailored to the Employee Benefits data environment.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on employee benefits data, including Group Benefits and Voluntary Benefits, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Collaborate with HR, Benefits Administration, IT, Compliance, and other stakeholders to define data requirements and standards.
- Monitor data quality metrics and implement data cleansing and validation processes.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy laws, industry regulations, and internal policies.
- Facilitate data governance training and awareness programs across the organization.
- Assist in data risk management by identifying vulnerabilities and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Support data-related audits and compliance assessments.
- Act as a liaison between technical teams and business units to translate business needs into data solutions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor s degree in Data Management, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field. Advanced degrees preferred.
- Proven experience in data governance, data management, or data quality roles within the Employee Benefits or related domain.
- Strong understanding of Group Benefits and Voluntary Benefits data structures, processes, and regulatory requirements.
- Expertise in data privacy, data security, and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with data governance tools, data catalogs, and metadata management platforms.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and stakeholders.
Preferred, but not required:
- Certifications such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Data Governance and Stewardship Professional (DGSP), or similar.
- Knowledge of HRIS systems and employee benefits administration platforms.
- Experience in leading data governance initiatives and projects.
