Summary

Location: Portage, MI Salary: $63.00 USD Hourly - $65.00 USD Hourly Description:
Title: Sr. Software Enginee
Location: Portage, MI
Duration: 3+Month Contract

About the Role
Role Overview: Test Automation Engineer

The primary objective is to convert existing manual test commands (currently documented in Word) into an automated Python-based framework. This effort supports the ProCuity bed's gateway module, which pushes data from the bed to hospital applications.

Technical Requirements

Core: Python (Framework), Ready API, API Testing.

Protocol: CAN (Controller Area Network) experience is mandatory.

Environment: Edge devices and hardware products.

Tools: CI/CD (GitHub, Jenkins), HTTP/SOAP web services.

Bonus: Wi-Fi and RF experience.

Strategic Differentiators

Hardware Focus: Candidates must have worked on physical products or circuit boards (e.g., automotive, consumer electronics). George explicitly deprioritized candidates from banking or insurance industries.

Automation Priority: The role is 100% automation-focused. While the engineer will interact with circuit boards and fixtures, there is no traditional manual testing component.

Project Rationale: Manual testing currently takes ~20 days per round. With internal releases occurring every 1-2 weeks, automation is critical to prevent release delays.

Interview & Submission Protocol

Integrity Check: There is a high concern regarding "outside help" during interviews. Suppliers must strictly screen for candidate identity and independence

Process: Typically one round via video call. If identity or help is suspected, a local candidate may be required to interview in person.

Technical Focus: Interviews will center on Python debugging skills and CAN-based technical questions.

Operational Directives

Backgrounds: Open to automotive or other non-medical hardware backgrounds; medical device experience is not a prerequisite

Need people that worked on a hardware product - that is a differentiator - not just apps like banking

Do not need to have med device, automotive or others are ok as long as it hardware based background

Some of the manual tests now take 3 weeks and need them automated and able to do more releases

WiFi and RF experience would be a plus and could help down the line

Medical, dental, and vision insurance are available to qualified candidates who meet eligibility requirements.
