SAP Commerce Technical Architect

Role: SAP Commerce Technical Architect
Location: Raritan, NJ (Hybrid, 3 days a week)
Job Type: Long term contract

Key Responsibilities:

Architecture & Technical Leadership

• Define and own end-to-end technical architecture for SAP Commerce Cloud implementations including B2B, B2C, and B2B2C commerce models
• Lead solution design across all layers: storefront (SpartacAccelerator), backend services, OCC APIs, data modeling, integrations, and infrastructure
• Establish coding standards, architectural patterns, and technical governance frameworks
• Conduct architecture reviews, technical design sessions, and code quality assessments
• Drive technology roadmap planning and SAP upgrade strategies (including JDK migrations, e.g., JDK 21 compatibility)

Delivery & Project Oversight

• Oversee technical delivery across multiple concurrent workstreams and cross-functional teams
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Business Analysts, and clients to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
• Manage technical risk, identify issues early, and drive resolution with a structured approach
• Lead effort estimation, sprint planning support, and technical milestone tracking
• Ensure delivery quality through definition of done, peer review processes, and CI/CD pipeline oversight

Integration & Platform

• Architect integrations with SAP ERP (S/4HANA, ECC), SAP CX suite (CDC, Emarsys, CPQ), CMS platforms, payment gateways, OMS, PIM, and third-party APIs
• Design and govern OCC REST API strategies, microservices patterns, and event-driven architectures
• Lead cloud infrastructure architecture on SAP BTP, Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform as applicable
• Drive performance engineering: caching strategies (Solr, Redis), load testing, and scalability planning

Team & Stakeholder Engagement

• Mentor and coach senior developers, solution designers, and technical leads
• Act as primary technical point of contact for client architecture boards and C-level stakeholders
• Contribute to pre-sales activities including RFP responses, solution proposals, and architecture workshops
• Drive continuous improvement in engineering practices, tooling, and team capability

Technical Skills

• Deep expertise in SAP Commerce Cloud platform
• Strong proficiency in Java (JDK 11/17/21), Spring Framework
• Hands-on experience with Composable Storefront and/or JSP Accelerator
• OCC API design, REST/SOAP integrations and microservices architecture
• Solr search configuration, indexing strategies, and faceted search optimization
• SAP Commerce Cloud CCv2 deployment, cloud portal operations, and DevOps pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI)
• Proficiency with relational databases (MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle) and SAP HANA
• Integration with Third parties.

• Strong client-facing presence and experience in executive-level engagement
• Ability to lead geographically distributed teams across time zones
• Results-driven with a bias for action and strong problem-solving ability
