Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Data Governance Analyst to support the development and execution of a data governance framework aligned to enterprise data strategy and data product delivery. This role will partner with data, business, and strategy teams to translate high-level governance direction into practical, actionable processes. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience building and operationalizing governance frameworks to implement sustainable, scalable practices in a fast-evolving environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of a data governance framework aligned with enterprise data strategy.
- Translate governance direction into tactical execution, including defined processes, roles, and responsibilities.
- Partner with data teams to ensure data products are documented, structured, and aligned to governance standards.
- Establish and enforce governance practices across data ownership, stewardship models, data lineage, and documentation standards.
- Develop governance artifacts such as data standards, policies, operating models, and documentation templates.
- Align governance practices with broader Enterprise Data Office (EDO) standards while tailoring to business needs.
- Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure governance is practical and adopted.
- Help drive organizational adoption and buy-in for governance practices.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 5-10 years of experience in data governance, data management, or related data roles. Proven experience building and implementing data governance frameworks in an enterprise environment is required.
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of core governance concepts including data ownership, stewardship, lineage, and quality management. Experience working with enterprise data platforms and reporting environments is necessary.
Professional Skills: Ability to translate strategy into actionable, operational processes. Strong communication skills with the ability to work across business and technical stakeholders. Demonstrated experience working in ambiguous or evolving environments and bringing structure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within or alongside an Enterprise Data Office (EDO) or similar centralized data function.
- Background in data product-centric environments supporting analytics, reporting, or domain-based data ownership.
- Experience in cloud data ecosystems (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).
- Utility or energy industry experience is a plus, but not required.
- Prior experience in organizations with established, successful governance models.
Compensation & Benefits
The pay rate for this position is between $40.00 and $59.00 per hour. A comprehensive benefits package is available to eligible employees.
