Job#: 3031198 Job Description: Software Engineer - Database Developer
Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico (On-site)
Role Overview
We are seeking senior software candidates with an active TS/SCI clearance to support a space ground system transitioning from a prototype into full operations. This role requires architectural thinkers and experienced leaders who can redesign a reference program for operational rigor. The focus is on candidates with ground-to-space or space-to-ground experience, strong system-level knowledge, and the ability to shape and mature a mission-critical system, not just execute tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and implement database solutions at extreme scale, supporting data throughput of approximately 10TB per day and petabyte-scale data over the system lifecycle.
- Redesign a prototype reference program into a fully operational, large-scale space ground system with operational rigor.
- Design and architect a real-time, mission-critical ground system capable of continuous 24/7 operations.
- Develop systems that integrate mission planning, mission management, real-time visualization, and user interfaces.
- Design systems for real-time access, storage, retrieval, and analytics where performance and reliability are mission-critical.
- Collaborate with systems engineering, mission systems, and other teams to transition systems from prototype to operations.
- Enable the long-term sustainment of data-heavy operations.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's degree is required.
Security Clearance: An active Top Secret (TS/SCI) U.S. Security Clearance is required to start.
Experience:- 5+ years of experience in designing, developing, and implementing software test environments, including hardware, software, and network configuration.
- Experience in large-scale database or data platform design and implementation.
- Experience with real-time or near-real-time data systems and high-ingest, high-retention environments.
- Experience with hardware/software integration, emulation, or testing, preferably in a lab environment.
- Proficiency in foundational Computer Science knowledge, object-oriented design, and software patterns.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with space or defense programs, particularly with ground-to-space or space-to-ground systems.
- Experience with Software Engineering principles such as Software Configuration Management, Software Architecture, and Software Life Cycle Management.
- Experience with one or more of the following: Java, C++, Python, JS frameworks (REACT, jQuery UI, Open Layers), Spring Framework, Hibernate, RDBMS, MongoDB, REST, and OpenAPI.
- Experience using dependency management and automation services (e.g., Maven, Gradle, Git, Jenkins).
- Experience using cloud-based infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Familiarity with practices such as test-driven development (TDD), agile software development, DevSecOps, and CI/CD management.
Compensation
