Summary

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Director of Engineering in Phoenix, AZ.

Overview:
This role is responsible for leading and growing the Water/Wastewater Department while providing senior-level engineering and project management oversight across a range of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. The position supports projects from concept development through design and construction while contributing to staff leadership, client coordination, and business development.

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Management:
* Lead and grow the Water/Wastewater Department
* Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and staff supervision
* Support hiring, performance management, and staff development

Engineering & Project Delivery:
* Manage projects from concept through final design and construction support
* Prepare construction documents, cost estimates, schedules, and work plans
* Define scope, manage budgets, and coordinate sub-consultants
* Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
* Maintain accurate project records

Technical Focus Areas:
* Water and wastewater master planning
* Infrastructure analysis and system evaluation
* Water distribution, pumping, and treatment system design
* Wastewater collection systems, lift stations, and treatment facilities
* Well equipping and site/civil design

Client & Business Development:
* Coordinate with stakeholders and regulatory agencies
* Support public outreach and prepare presentations
* Assist with marketing efforts and proposal development
* Establish and maintain professional relationships

REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelors of Science in Engineering or higher from an accredited university or college
* Must possess 15 years of progressive experience and 10 years in project management
* Municipal experience in water/wastewater
* Experience managing water and wastewater projects
* Demonstrated leadership and project management skills
* Strong communication and organizational abilities

Preferred:
* Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain
* Experience leading a technical department or practice area

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
