Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to independently lead complex, cross-functional initiatives from planning through implementation. This role will oversee a strategic business and technology-focused product initiative, requiring exceptional project execution, stakeholder management, and communication skills. The Project Manager will work closely with business leaders, technology teams, external partners, and executive stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of high-impact programs. This position offers the opportunity to drive meaningful organizational change while influencing outcomes across multiple departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead medium-to-large projects through the full project lifecycle.
  • Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, milestones, and dependencies.
  • Establish project governance, reporting, and control processes.
  • Identify risks and issues, develop mitigation strategies, and drive resolution.
  • Coordinate efforts across business, technology, and vendor teams.
  • Facilitate meetings, workshops, and stakeholder discussions.
  • Prepare executive-level status reports, risk assessments, and project updates.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Manage multiple priorities while ensuring projects remain on schedule and within scope.
  • Influence cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment without direct authority.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: $130,000-$140,000 + discretionary bonus.

  • Work Model: Remote with travel 1-2x per quarter to Los Angeles.

Requirements

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5-10+ years of project management experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives.
  • Experience managing projects through the full Project Management Life Cycle (PMLC) and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Proven ability to manage project schedules, budgets, risks, dependencies, and stakeholder communications.
  • Minimum of 2 years leading cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment without direct reporting authority.
  • Strong experience developing detailed project plans, governance models, status reporting, and project documentation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging for technical teams, business stakeholders, executives, clients, and vendors.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate project risks, issues, decisions, and next steps to senior leadership.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build credibility and influence across all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office Suite, email, internet applications, and other business productivity tools.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities.
  • Self-starter with a high level of accountability, professionalism, and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • FLMI or other industry-related certifications.
  • Experience within financial services, insurance, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Long-Term Care, life insurance, health insurance, or related insurance product experience.
  • Experience managing projects involving external clients, business partners, and third-party vendors.
  • Background leading technology-enabled business transformation initiatives.
  • Experience presenting to executive leadership and steering committees.
  • Knowledge of project management best practices, methodologies, and enterprise governance frameworks.
