Job description

Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled and proactive IT Technician to join our team and provide second-level support for advanced IT issues across our office and avionics maintenance environments. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving complex hardware and software issues, managing critical systems, and ensuring minimal disruption to operations. You'll collaborate closely with other IT teams, both local and abroad, and departments support the optimization of IT systems used for aircraft maintenance, regulatory compliance, and business operations.

Essential Job Functions:
Provide technical support for shop floor and office personnel remote and on-site, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
Provide priority support to manufacturing applications and equipment.
Set up, configure, and maintain workstations, laptops, tablets, and other IT equipment used in both shop floor and office environments.
Manage user accounts, password resets, and access permissions in Active Directory and other business systems.
Assist with the installation and maintenance of printers, label makers, and specialized equipment in the shop.
Ensure proper follow up, resolution and documentation of IT tickets.
Keep up to date inventory of laptops, desktops, monitors and accessories.
Help create, maintain and update documentation for IT process and activities.
Escalate more complex or unresolved issues to higher-level support as needed.
Provide training and support for common business applications (e.g., Microsoft 365, ERP systems, maintenance databases).
Maintain compliance with industry regulations and internal security policies, including data protection and access control.
Coordinate with vendors and contractors for equipment repairs or installations when necessary.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve complex hardware, software, and network issues related to office systems and aviation-specific tools (e.g., maintenance management systems, parts inventory systems, and avionics-related software).
Perform system installations, upgrades, and patch management to ensure security, stability, and optimal performance of all IT systems.
Support and troubleshoot critical business applications and aviation-specific software used by maintenance and engineering teams.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., FAA standards) for IT systems and data security protocols.
Assist as needed with server and network management tasks, including monitoring and reporting on system performance.
Document resolutions and maintain an up-to-date knowledge base for common issues, procedures, and troubleshooting techniques.
Collaborate with external vendors and service providers for specialized technical support and repairs.
Assist in IT projects such as system migrations, software implementations, and infrastructure improvements.

Travel Specificity:
Potential travel between Irvine, California and other locations up to 10%.

Physical Demands:
Willingness to occasionally move or lift IT equipment (up to 50 pounds)
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position and occasionally move about the office and laboratory.
Constantly operates and use a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copier/printer and laboratory machinery.
The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information. The ability to observe, identify and assess details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).

Work Environment:
Work can be split between an office and a shop floor
Exposure to industrial environments, including noise and occasional temperature variations
Must follow safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE when working in the shop area when required.

Experience in relevant Business sector preferred

Other Requirements:
1. Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

Candidate skills & requirements

Required Competencies:

Education/Experience:
Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
5+ years of IT support experience preferred, preferably in a manufacturing, aviation, or high-compliance environment.
CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), or other relevant certifications (e.g., Cisco, VMware) preferred
In-depth understanding of Windows operating systems, hardware troubleshooting, and networking protocols.
Experience with network administration, server management, and advanced technical support.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues.
Knowledge of IT security best practices and data protection regulations (e.g., compliance with FAA IT standards).

Leadership Skills / Management Skills / Personal Skills:
Strong communication skills with a customer-service mindset
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a hands-on environment.
Provide mentorship and training to other technicians, helping to elevate the overall team's technical capabilities.
Collaborate effectively across departments and with external vendors.
