JOB TITLE: CAD Technician

DURATION: 11 MONTHS

LOCATION: ONSITE IN SEATTLE WA

PAY RATE: $29 - $39 HOURLY

Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Powder Coating Cell Lead to establish and manage our powder coating operations within our advanced CNC and sheet metal prototype and production shop. This role will be responsible for building the powder coating process from the ground up, including procedure development, operator training, quality assurance, and equipment specification.

Key Responsibilities

Process Development & Management

- Develop and document comprehensive powder coating procedures, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)

- Establish process parameters and quality standards for powder coating operations

- Optimize coating processes for efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness

- Troubleshoot process issues and implement corrective actions

Team Leadership & Training

- Train and mentor powder coating operators on proper techniques, safety protocols, and quality requirements

- Schedule and coordinate daily operations to meet production demands

- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching

- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence

Quality Assurance

- Implement quality control checkpoints throughout the coating process

- Conduct inspections and measurements to ensure coating thickness, adhesion, and finish quality meet specifications

- Maintain quality records and documentation in accordance with quality management system requirements

- Drive root cause analysis and corrective action for quality issues

Equipment & Facility Management

- Scope, specify, and recommend powder coating equipment purchases and upgrades

- Maintain powder coating equipment including spray booths, ovens, and material handling systems

- Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime

- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations

MES Integration & Data Management

- Utilize Manufacturing Execution System (MES) for work order tracking, process documentation, and data collection

- Generate reports on production metrics, quality performance, and equipment utilization

- Support continuous improvement initiatives through data analysis

Required Qualifications

- 5+ years of hands-on experience in powder coating operations

- 2+ years in a lead or supervisory role within a manufacturing environment

- Proven experience working with Quality Management Systems (QMS) in a production setting

- Demonstrated proficiency with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)

- Strong understanding of powder coating chemistry, application techniques, and curing processes

- Experience developing procedures, work instructions, and training materials

- Knowledge of quality inspection methods and measurement tools

- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications

- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

- Excellent communication and leadership abilities

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in ISO 9001 certified facilities

- Background in CNC machining or sheet metal fabrication environments

- Familiarity with prototype and low-volume production operations

- Knowledge of environmental compliance requirements for coating operations

- Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
