Mechanical Technician

Location: Monroe, NC Onsite

Duration: 1+ Years

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities
  • Heat treat parts, tools, and materials involving:
    • Carburizing
    • Plating
    • Hardening
    • Tempering
    • Annealing
    • Stress relieving
  • Read thermometers, ammeters, voltmeters, indicating, and recording instruments
  • Use measuring equipment
  • Complete quality forms and other required paperwork
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work area
  • Set up induction heaters
  • Run trial heats
  • Determine required:
    • Voltage
    • Current
    • Frequency
    • Feeds
    • Speed
    • Type of induction coil
    • Water flow
  • Check sample pieces for hardness and distortion
  • Interpret samples for correct hardening technique
  • Use material handling equipment
  • Recognize and immediately correct difficulties or errors without assistance, or identify when issues are due to machines, equipment, or material
  • Perform duties without assistance, except on unusual or difficult jobs
  • Consistently produce work of proper quality and required quantity


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to use basic measuring equipment, including scales and calipers
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Self-driven and able to self-manage


Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
