3Core Systems is looking for ESRI GIS Project Manager for one of our clients in Remote
Role: ESRI GIS Project Manager
Location: REMOTE with 50% Travel
Duration: 6+ Months Contract to Hire
Skill Set Guidance:
- IT Project Manager experience is required
- ESRI experience is preferred, but not mandatory
- Strong PMs with relevant data migration, data cleanup, or utility project experience may still be considered
- Ideal candidates should have experience managing projects involving:
- Data movement and transformation
- Utility or similar industry environments
- Client interaction and stakeholder communication
Responsibilities:
- Utility Network migrations (GN UN)
- ArcGIS Enterprise implementations
- Utility GIS consulting + delivery
- Field inventory / data conversion programs
- Integration with EAM / OMS / ADMS systems
- Client-facing consulting + project delivery
Client is seeking senior Project Managers with strong PM expertise, capable of bridging technical teams and business stakeholders. ESRI GIS or utility experience is advantageous but not mandatory, as long as candidates demonstrate relevant project integration experience. The team is prioritizing high-caliber talent ready to manage complex projects immediately.
Role Overview:
- This is a senior Project Manager role, focused on IT/technical projects, particularly software/system integrations like GIS.
- Candidates should have strong project management experience, including client expectation management, risk management, budgeting, scheduling, and financial oversight.
- Experience with ESRI GIS is preferred but not required; candidates with strong software/system integration experience or analogous technical projects are acceptable.
- Utility industry experience is beneficial but not mandatory. Ideal candidates can manage projects for external clients, not just internal teams.
Candidate Profile:
- Must have proven project management experience; technical experience alone is not sufficient for senior roles.
- PMP certification preferred; Scrum Master or other certifications are a plus but optional.
- Comfortable with 50 70% domestic travel. Candidate location should allow reasonable access to airports for client site visits.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills are critical.
Tools & Methodologies:
- Experience with Microsoft Project, or equivalent scheduling tools.
- Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, or similar project management platforms is helpful.
- Candidates may have experience in Scrum/Agile environments but should also be capable of managing traditional project management responsibilities (schedules, budgets, resources).
Interview Process:
- Initial screening by HR/recruiter to ensure fit and willingness to travel.
- Followed by interviews with PMO leadership and potentially senior PMs.
- For senior roles, candidates must demonstrate readiness to manage projects independently.
Update on Travel:
Our Sr. PM s travel quite frequently. In our JD, we list on average 50-75% travel throughout the year.
In reality, it depends on the client and project requirements, but it s usually traveling to be on site with the project team for a 2-3 day trip. They ll return home and work remotely.
They could be home for a few weeks, maybe even a month or two and be asked/requested to go back onsite for a project check in. Could be more frequent, could be less again depending on the clients request but it is frequent and required travel. In summary, monthly.
What we look for from you
- Bachelor s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of at least 7 years related experience in project management capacity.
- Professional Services or consulting organization experience highly preferred.
- Experience managing Esri GIS system implementation and integration projects.
- Electric or gas utility project management experience is strongly preferred
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of project management standards, processes, techniques, and tools.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Proven experience in people management, strategic planning, risk management, conflict resolution, and change management.
- Experience overseeing testing and defect tracking.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and project management software including Project, Visio, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- Experience in managing software development staff and understanding of the software development lifecycle including testing cycles preferred.
- Certificate in Project Management (PMP) is a plus.
- Experience with Esri's Utility Network is preferred.
