Summary

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer in Lehi, UT. This product-focused technology company is looking to strengthen its cloud and platform foundation. This role is focused on building reliable, scalable, and well-automated infrastructure while taking true ownership of the systems that keep the platform running smoothly. This is an opportunity for an engineer who enjoys hands-on infrastructure work, values operational excellence, and wants to grow into a trusted owner of core platform services.

Responsibilities:
* Design, deploy, and operate cloud infrastructure components with end-to-end ownership, from infrastructure as code through monitoring and alerting
* Build and maintain Terraform-based infrastructure with reliability, failure scenarios, and blast radius in mind
* Participate in an on-call rotation, responding to production incidents, resolving issues, escalating when needed, and driving post-incident improvements
* Create and maintain clear runbooks to improve incident response and reduce recovery time
* Define and implement SLIs, alerts, and monitoring for the systems you own
* Automate repetitive operational tasks and measure the impact in reduced manual effort and increased reliability
* Contribute to CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions preferred) to improve deployment stability and developer experience
* Partner with product and engineering teams to understand infrastructure needs and deliver practical, scalable solutions
* Provide thoughtful code reviews and continuously improve documentation
* Use AI tools responsibly in daily work to accelerate delivery while validating outputs and sharing best practices
* Develop deeper expertise in one or more platform areas (Kubernetes, observability, CI/CD, networking, etc.) while maintaining broad systems knowledge

REQUIREMENTS:
* Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code, ideally Terraform
* Working knowledge of AWS services, including compute, networking, storage, and IAM
* Understanding of container technologies such as Docker and container orchestration concepts
* Experience supporting or contributing to CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions preferred)
* Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools and building meaningful alerts
* Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python, Bash, or Go)
* Comfort participating in on-call rotations and handling production issues calmly and methodically
* Strong understanding of system failure modes, operational risk, and reliability tradeoffs
* Automation-first mindset - if something is done repeatedly, you look for a way to automate it
* Clear communicator who documents decisions, surfaces risks early, and explains dependencies
* Growth-oriented mindset with a desire to learn from incidents, reviews, and feedback
* Strong sense of ownership - when you own a system, you actively improve it
* Visa sponsorship is not available for this position

This position offers meaningful ownership of core infrastructure, influence over platform reliability, and the chance to work in an environment that values automation, learning, and operational discipline.
