REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • 7-10+ years of experience in retail technology, with deep expertise in POS systems (Manhattan POS, Oracle Xstore, Client, Toshiba, or similar).
  • Strong background in system integration, API design, data transformation, and middleware platforms.
  • Handson experience with payment processing, EMV certification, and retail transaction flows.
  • Proven leadership in multistore retail rollouts, pilot deployments, and largescale technology transformations.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Technical Lead serves as the primary technical authority for the endtoend implementation of a modern PointofSale (POS) solution across a multistore retail environment. This role bridges architecture, engineering, integrations, data, and testing to ensure the POS platform is designed, built, and deployed to meet business, operational, and technical requirements. The Technical Lead partners closely with the Program Manager, Solution Architect, POS vendor, and client IT teams to drive technical delivery, resolve issues, and ensure the solution is stable, scalable, and ready for rollout.
  • Own the technical direction for the POS implementation, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, security standards, and retail operational needs.
  • Translate business and functional requirements into technical specifications, integration designs, and configuration approaches.
  • Lead technical design sessions, solution walkthroughs, and architecture reviews with client and vendor teams.
  • Ensure the POS solution integrates seamlessly with upstream and downstream systems (OMS, ERP, Inventory, Payments, Loyalty, Pricing, Tax, etc.).

Integration & Development Oversight
  • Oversee all integration development, including APIs, data flows, middleware, and realtime event processing.
  • Review and approve technical designs, mapping documents, and interface specifications.
  • Guide development teams on coding standards, patterns, and best practices for retail systems.
  • Ensure data transformation, validation, and errorhandling logic is robust and welldocumented.

Environment, Configuration & Infrastructure
  • Define environment strategy (DEV, QA, UAT, Pilot, Production) and ensure environments are properly configured and maintained.
  • Oversee POS configuration, hardware setup, device management, and peripheral integration (scanners, printers, payment terminals).
  • Partner with network and infrastructure teams to validate store readiness, connectivity, and performance.

Testing & Quality Assurance
  • Support SIT and UAT by ensuring test scenarios reflect real retail workflows and edge cases.
  • Lead technical triage during defect cycles, driving rootcause analysis and prioritizing fixes.

Preferred Skills
  • Experience with cloudbased POS or unified commerce platforms.
  • Familiarity with retail store operations, inventory management, and omnichannel workflows.
  • Strong understanding of security, PCI compliance, and data privacy in retail environments.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical topics for business stakeholders.
