Help Desk/IT Support

Description

We are looking for a dependable Help Desk/IT Support specialist to provide hands-on technical assistance for a government organization in California. This Long-term Contract position will support employees with day-to-day IT needs, including account administration, workstation setup, and responsive issue resolution in a primarily onsite environment. The role is well suited for someone who enjoys delivering strong customer service, learning quickly, and contributing across a broad range of desktop and infrastructure support tasks.

Responsibilities:
Deliver front-line technical support to staff by diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and access-related issues in a timely manner.
Set up new employees for success by preparing devices, creating profiles, provisioning accounts, and ensuring smooth onboarding and offboarding activities.
Administer user access within Active Directory and Microsoft 365, including password resets, account maintenance, and permission updates.
Monitor and respond to service desk requests, manage ticket flow effectively, and maintain clear communication with end users throughout issue resolution.
Provide onsite desktop support for Windows-based systems, printers, and other end-user technology across the organization.
Assist with basic networking and server-related support needs, escalating more complex issues when necessary.
Support technology readiness for meetings and occasional council sessions by helping ensure equipment and connectivity function properly.
Partner with the IT Manager during knowledge transfer to maintain continuity of support while covering the leave period.

Requirements

Experience providing help desk, desktop support, or IT generalist support in a detail-oriented environment.
Working knowledge of Windows operating systems, including Windows 10, with the ability to troubleshoot common end-user issues.
Hands-on experience with Active Directory, user account administration, and Microsoft 365 support.
Familiarity with service desk or ticketing systems; experience with Zendesk is preferred.
Ability to support printers, user devices, and basic networking or server-related issues.
Strong customer service and communication skills, with a responsive and approachable support style.
Comfortable working primarily onsite and managing a steady volume of technical support requests.
Able to learn quickly, stay organized, and operate effectively within a small IT team.
