Job Title: Senior Network Engineer
Location: Prefer Onsite (Salisbury, NC or Greenville, SC) - Remote Work Also Available
Employment Type: Contractor
Not to exceed Bill Rate: $100/hour
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Network Engineer to join our team as a contractor. This role will primarily focus on the design, implementation, and support of Arista data center networking, including spine/leaf fabric, CloudVision, and ZTP/ZTX. The ideal candidate will also have working knowledge of Cisco Nexus and Cisco ACI to support hybrid environments. Strong experience in network automation and policy frameworks is essential. Additional knowledge of other networking technologies is a plus but not required.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design, deployment, and maintenance of Arista spine/leaf data center fabric.
Configure and manage Arista EOS, CloudVision, and ZTP/ZTX for automated provisioning and policy enforcement.
Support Cisco Nexus and ACI environments as needed for interoperability and migration efforts.
Implement network automation using tools such as Python, Ansible, or Terraform.
Evaluate and test network systems to identify and resolve performance issues.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business and technical requirements.
Maintain documentation of network configurations, procedures, and standards.
Monitor network performance and provide timely support for incidents and outages.
Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in network engineering, preferably in a senior or lead role.
Expert-level knowledge of Arista data center switching, including CloudVision, ZTP/ZTX, and spine/leaf architecture.
Solid experience with Cisco Nexus and ACI platforms.
Proficiency in network automation and scripting.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and under general supervision.
Effective communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills:
Certifications such as Arista ACE, CCNP, or CCIE.
Knowledge of SDN, EVPN/VXLAN, VPN, and other advanced networking technologies.
What are the primary projects or initiatives this contractor will support in the first 6-12 months? - - PR01504, PRJ01793, PRJ01892
Will the role focus more on design, implementation, or troubleshooting of network infrastructure?
Design and implementation 80% troubleshooting 20%
What percentage of work will involve data center technologies (Cisco ACI, Nexus 9K, Arista) versus traditional LAN/WAN?

Are there any specific BGP configurations or routing scenarios the candidate should be experienced with?
CCIE level candidate with over 7 years experience in BGP
What is the current network architecture (e.g., spine-leaf, EVPN/VXLAN overlays) and what upgrades or changes are planned?
Setting up and migrating workloads to Arista Spine leaf architecture, Creating a new DCI infrastructure
Which network monitoring and automation tools are currently in use (e.g., Ansible, Python, ExtraHop, Gigamon)?
Gigamon and Extrahop will be deployed, Solarwinds currently in place.
Is there any SD-WAN or cloud networking integration planned that the candidate should be familiar with?
What does success look like for this role in the first 90 days?
Analyze the current BGP routing deployment, identify issues and provide recommendations
Are there any critical certifications or additional skills beyond CCIE that would make a candidate stand out?
None
Will the contractor be expected to mentor junior engineers or strictly focus on technical execution?
partially Mentor but mainly focus on technical executions
Will this role be remote? If so, do you prefer the candidate to be located near a specific site or region?
Remote, should be able to work on EST zone.
