Day to day responsibilities


The IT Senior Project Manager for the AMI 2.0 Program will lead all phases of the project lifecycle and system integrator engagement activities, including pre-planning, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure for a major Advanced Metering Infrastructure initiative. This role focuses on resource and task planning, technical blueprinting, business process design, and vendor coordination within a complex IT environment. Facilitate IT business process mapping and requirements clarification to ensure alignment with functional needs, technical delivery, and IT SI area of responsibility. The successful candidate will develop a comprehensive resource plan based on technical scope, including roles, skillsets, and effort and cost estimates across workstreams (integration, data, infrastructure, and testing). Will support the development and refinement of a high-level solution blueprint that defines scope, schedule, and budget from a technical lens integrating infrastructure, data flows, and system interfaces to inform delivery planning. Plan and coordinate the Planning & Analyze phases, including solution design validation, technical feasibility reviews, and preparation for Build phase activities including, e.g., environment readiness, development sequencing, testing strategy, and deployment rollout.


Education Requirement:

  • Bachelor s degree in engineering, business, computer science, or other business-related disciplines (including liberal arts majors).

Minimum Years of Experience: 10 Years

  • Experience managing large IT programs, resource planning, solution blueprinting, implementation planning, and overall end-to-end delivery management.
  • Large-scale IT program/project management in utilities or regulated industries.
  • Experience with AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure), smart grid, or large Electric Utility technology and infrastructure projects: AMI 1.0 or 2.0 preferred (at minimum some 1.0 exposure).
  • Understanding of the meter-to-cash process end-to-end.
  • Cloud migration/implementation experience (moving from on-prem to cloud).
  • Experience with system integrations (MDMS, head-end systems, OMS, SAP, ADMS).
  • Broad IT infrastructure knowledge ability to see the big picture and ensure no gaps in delivery.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional leadership.
  • Ability to quickly integrate into a fast-paced, large program, understand their role, absorb information rapidly, and deliver results efficiently with appropriate level of direction and guidance.
  • Strong blend of business insight and technical proficiency to bridge the gap between stakeholder needs and technological solutions.
  • Ability to work across IT and business processes (not just technical delivery).
  • This is a hands-on role, expected to personally execute day-to-day PM deliverables, in addition to overseeing and delegation. Must be adaptable, open to feedback, and able to take on other responsibilities as assigned.

Desired Skills/Attributes

  • Experience with utility technology needs, including strategic objectives and areas of investment focus.
  • Experience delivering/developing technical information to a non-technical audience as well as to senior leadership.
  • Major data conversion projects (millions of records).
  • Proficiency in utilizing data sets (MS Excel & Pivot Tables at minimum) to create and analyze information
  • Experience in corporate strategy, strategic planning or strategy/management consulting.

Technical Tools:

  • MS Project (required).
  • Octane (nice-to-have; strong plus if proficient).
