Hybrid 3 days in office/week in Chesterfield, MO

The organization seeks an Executive Director Labor Category Lead to build and mature a center-led procurement capability for the Professional Services and Labor category. The role will own category and supplier management strategy, lead negotiations, and drive governance, performance, and value delivery. The position collaborates with senior stakeholders, unifies data and processes, and advances multi-year improvement plans across a global environment.

This is a contract to hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. Rate: $126710.00 to $188840.00/yr. w2

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute Professional Services and Labor category sourcing strategies aligned to business objectives.
  • Lead supplier contract negotiations and manage strategic supplier relationships to ensure performance, innovation, and value.
  • Conduct market research, benchmarking, and analysis to inform multi-year category strategies.
  • Implement a center-led category governance model with consistent, transparent, and efficient workflows.
  • Create and maintain a centralized supplier inventory and unified data to improve control and governance.
  • Lead multi-year category improvement plans and establish processes to manage ongoing supplier relationships.
  • Drive collaboration and process improvement by creating intuitive processes, tools, and feedback loops.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with senior functional leaders across regions and departments.
  • Communicate and educate stakeholders on procurement policies, practices, and capabilities.
  • Track and evaluate category performance with KPIs and implement corrective actions.

Experience Requirements:
  • 10+ years in a global procurement organization, including 5+ years in a center-led structure.
  • 5+ years in category strategy, strategic sourcing, or supplier relationship management.
  • Business process redesign experience.
  • Experience with modern sourcing and procurement systems.
  • Experience with Professional Services and Labor category strategies (preferred).
  • Financial services or insurance industry experience (preferred).
  • Ability to motivate and influence across hierarchies and cultures.
  • Experience partnering with senior management to improve control environments.
  • Operational management and general business acumen.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Familiarity with legislative and regulatory requirements and standard contractual terms.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement category playbooks with stakeholder alignment.
  • Ability to develop long-range supplier relationships.
  • Proven sourcing and cost reduction strategy development.
  • Benchmark and scorecard development for continuous improvement.
  • Working knowledge of finance and accounting including budgeting, cost management, financial accounting, treasury, and risk management.
  • Knowledge of global supplier regulations including third-party requirements (preferred).

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Procurement or Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
  • Master's degree in Business Administration or related field (preferred).
  • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) (preferred).
