Data Scientist - Nuclear OperationsJob Summary
The Data Scientist develops and deploys advanced analytics and machine learning solutions that support nuclear plant performance, equipment reliability, and operational efficiency. This role translates complex operational and telemetry data into trusted, actionable insights delivered through a governed, cloud-native analytics platform.
The position focuses on production-grade analytics within an Azure Databricks lakehouse environment and requires strong documentation, auditability, and analytical rigor appropriate for a highly regulated setting. The Data Scientist partners closely with engineering, IT, and analytics teams to create scalable solutions that can be safely operated and maintained over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, validate, and maintain statistical, machine learning, and time-series models for use cases such as anomaly detection and predictive maintenance.
- Implement end-to-end analytics workflows and data pipelines within a cloud lakehouse platform using Spark-based processing.
- Ensure analytics solutions meet data governance, security, and auditability requirements.
- Monitor model performance and support controlled updates as conditions evolve.
- Collaborate with technical and operational partners to translate business needs into analytical solutions.
- Produce clear technical documentation supporting long-term use and maintenance.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Python and SQL with experience working on large, structured datasets.
- Experience deploying analytics or machine learning solutions in a production cloud environment.
- Strong foundation in statistical modeling and time-series analysis.
- Ability to clearly communicate analytical approaches and limitations.
- Master's degree in a quantitative discipline preferred.
