Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst 3 to support enterprise-level data and analytics initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in business analysis, metadata management, data governance, data lineage, SQL, and analytics support. This role will serve as a key liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders, helping organizations improve data accessibility, reporting, decision-making, and AI-driven metadata solutions.

The selected candidate will work within an Agile development environment and collaborate closely with business users, subject matter experts (SMEs), data engineers, analysts, and IT teams.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Liaison and Business Analysis

  • Gather, analyze, and document business requirements related to metadata, data governance, and analytics initiatives.

  • Serve as the primary bridge between technical teams and non-technical business stakeholders.

  • Connect enterprise metadata cataloging and lineage systems with source applications and databases.

  • Automate metadata collection, enrichment, and maintenance processes for high-value data assets.

  • Translate technical findings, limitations, and risks into clear, business-friendly language.


Metadata Management and Data Governance

  • Support the development and maintenance of enterprise data glossaries and metadata repositories.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to establish business and technical definitions for enterprise data assets.

  • Validate metadata quality, lineage accuracy, and governance compliance.

  • Ensure adherence to organizational data governance standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.


Data Analysis, Reporting, and Visualization

  • Extract, integrate, analyze, and enrich metadata from multiple internal and external systems.

  • Utilize SQL to perform data extraction, validation, transformation, and enrichment activities.

  • Collaborate with business users and analytics teams to develop reports and visualizations that demonstrate metadata enrichment progress and reporting outcomes.

  • Support business intelligence and data warehouse initiatives.


AI Enablement and Data Synthesis

  • Develop and optimize AI prompts and query strategies to improve metadata discovery and synthesis.

  • Validate AI-generated outputs and identify potential inaccuracies or hallucinations.

  • Create reusable prompt libraries and standardized query templates for common business reporting needs.

  • Assist users in leveraging AI tools effectively while maintaining data accuracy and governance standards.


Training and Data Literacy

  • Promote data literacy throughout the organization.

  • Develop training materials, user guides, and documentation for metadata and glossary tools.

  • Conduct workshops and training sessions for users with varying levels of technical expertise.

  • Mentor staff on metadata management, governance, and analytics best practices.


Collaboration and Continuous Improvement

  • Partner with data engineering, analytics, IT, and business teams to resolve metadata-related issues.

  • Provide subject matter expertise regarding data lineage, glossary management, and reporting.

  • Stay current on emerging technologies, metadata tools, AI solutions, and industry best practices.

  • Recommend improvements to metadata processes, governance frameworks, and reporting methodologies.




Required Qualifications

Experience

  • 8+ years of experience gathering business requirements and translating complex metadata acquisition and operational requirements into actionable data glossary solutions.

  • 8+ years of experience communicating technical findings and data limitations to non-technical stakeholders and leadership.

  • 8+ years of experience in business analysis, systems analysis, data analysis, or data liaison roles.

  • 8+ years of advanced SQL experience for data extraction, manipulation, and enrichment.

  • 8+ years of experience collaborating with business users, analysts, and technical teams to develop data glossaries and perform data lineage analysis.

  • Strong communication, presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Business Intelligence and/or Data Warehouse experience.

  • 5+ years serving as the primary contact for metadata and glossary-related analytics initiatives.

  • 5+ years working within highly regulated industries.

  • 5+ years of experience with data governance and data quality programs.

  • 5+ years of experience using metadata management and data governance tools such as Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog (EDC) and Axon Data Governance.

  • 2+ years promoting organizational data literacy initiatives.

  • 2+ years training and mentoring users with varying levels of technical expertise.

  • 1+ year of AI prompt engineering or AI-assisted data analysis experience.


Work Environment

  • Remote/Telework position.

  • Standard business hours: Monday through Friday.

  • Occasional evening, weekend, or holiday support may be required based on project needs.

  • Travel may be required with prior approval.

  • Candidates must successfully complete any required background verification processes.


Contract Duration

  • Estimated Duration: 12 Months

  • Extension opportunities may be available based on project requirements and performance.
