Contract Length: 12 months (possibility to extend or convert)

Pay Rate: $61 - $65
Top Requirements:

4+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent via work, consulting, training, or military.

Local Charlotte-based Full Stack Java engineer - NO relocation candidates.

Core Java (3+ years) and Spring Boot / MVC / Hibernate / Spring Data JPA (3+ years).

Web Services (3+ years) - RESTful APIs strongly preferred.

Oracle Database (3+ years) - PL/SQL, views, and data modeling understanding.

Microservices development (2+ years).

Cloud experience, ideally with OpenShift (team is migrating to cloud).

Java testing frameworks (2+ years).

JavaScript framework experience (2+ years).

Plusses:

Cloud certification.

Experience with event-driven development using Kafka.

Understanding of secure coding practices (static analysis, code review, app security).

Experience working with distributed teams (India alignment).

Job Summary:

This Software Engineer 3 position is a Full Stack Java engineering role supporting Fraud & Claims Detection technology..

The engineer will work across backend, middleware, and database layers, contributing to modernization efforts and cloud migration (OpenShift).

This position requires strong hands-on Java, Spring, microservices, Oracle, and cloud skills, as well as the ability to work closely with engineering counterparts in India.

The role includes enhancements, platform modernization, and steady monthly production releases.

The workload is primarily backend and middleware, with some full-stack responsibilities (JavaScript frameworks).

The application does not have a UI, increasing the need for strong microservices and backend engineering skills.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Develop full-stack Java solutions with Java, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Hibernate, JPA, and web services.
• Build and enhance microservices and backend logic supporting fraud and claims detection systems.
• Work heavily with Oracle DB, writing PL/SQL, crafting views, and understanding complex data models.
• Participate in cloud migration efforts using OpenShift and cloud engineering patterns.
• Support event-driven integrations using Kafka.
• Use SDLC tools, build tools (Gradle, Maven), and Java testing frameworks.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate closely with distributed teams across time zones.
• Troubleshoot production issues, resolve complex customer problems, and perform application maintenance.
• Interpret business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Follow secure coding practices and contribute to application stability, reliability, and compliance.
