Position Overview
We are looking for a Senior Java/J2EE Engineer with strong experience in API development, Spring Boot, Microservices, and telecom commercial/billing systems.
The ideal candidate will understand not only how to build APIs, but also the business logic behind telecom pricing, rate plans, discounts, credits, offers, promotions, billing rules, and exceptions/overrides.
The role also requires practical experience with AI-assisted software development, particularly Claude/Claude Code or similar AI coding tools. Experience using AI to accelerate frontend/UI development, preferably with NextJS, is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities

Design and develop scalable Java/J2EE, Spring Boot and Microservices applications.
Design, develop and integrate REST APIs, including OpenAPI/YAML specifications.
Work with API Management/Gateway platforms such as Apigee.
Develop and maintain business logic for telecom pricing, billing and commercial systems.
Work with rate plans, discounts, credits, adjustments, offers and promotions.
Implement and maintain complex billing rules, pricing logic and business exceptions/overrides.
Analyze business requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions rather than simply implementing predefined API specifications.
Develop event-driven solutions using Kafka and other messaging technologies.
Build and deploy applications using AWS, Docker and Kubernetes.
Implement CI/CD pipelines using GitLab and follow secure API development practices.
Use Claude/Claude Code or similar AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, debugging, testing and development.
Collaborate on AI-assisted UI development, preferably using NextJS.
Troubleshoot production issues and perform root-cause analysis across application, API and integration layers.
Work closely with product, architecture, business and engineering teams in an Agile environment.

Required Skills

Strong Java/J2EE development experience.
Strong Spring Boot and Microservices experience.
Hands-on REST API design and development.
Strong understanding of OpenAPI/Swagger and YAML.
Experience with API Management/API Gateway, preferably Apigee.
Strong understanding of telecom billing and commercial business logic.
Experience with pricing, rate plans, discounts, credits, adjustments, offers and promotions.
Experience handling billing/pricing exceptions and overrides.
Strong analytical and mathematical/problem-solving skills.
AWS experience.
Docker and Kubernetes.
CI/CD and GitLab.
API security concepts such as OAuth2, JWT and authentication/authorization.
Practical experience with Claude, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot or similar AI coding tools.

Preferred / Good-to-Have Skills

Hands-on Claude/Claude Code experience.
Experience using AI tools for frontend/UI development.
NextJS / React experience.
AWS Bedrock / Generative AI experience.
Kafka and event-driven architecture.
Experience with telecom/wireless platforms such as billing, charging, product catalog, order management or customer management systems.
Experience working with complex pricing and promotion engines.

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a strong Senior Java/API Engineer first, with meaningful telecom commercial/billing knowledge and practical experience using AI-assisted development tools.
We are not looking for someone who only builds APIs from requirements provided by others. The candidate should be able to understand and reason about the underlying business logic around pricing, billing, discounts, credits, offers and exceptions, and translate that logic into scalable technical solutions.
Claude/Claude Code experience is important and should be actively validated during screening, particularly where the candidate has used AI to accelerate development or build frontend/UI experiences. However, candidates with strong Java/API and telecom billing expertise should not be rejected solely because their Claude experience is less extensive.
