Wieland is hiring a Process Engineer Technician. The Process Engineer Technician will be responsible for providing frontline troubleshooting for equipment and tooling issues. This role involves hands-on technical support, assisting in the implementation of new processes and contributing improvement efforts. The technician will work closely with engineering and production teams to ensure operational efficiency, product quality, and adherence to safety standards. This role is located in Wheeling, IL and will be fully on-site.

Hourly Pay Range: $29.45-$31.17

Work Schedule: 2nd shift, Monday-Friday, 3pm-11pm

Pay Schedule: Bi-Weekly

Responsibilities

Process Engineer Technician Responsibilities:
  • Provide hands-on support to production teams by troubleshooting equipment and process issues to minimize downtime and ensure consistent product quality.
  • Assist Process Engineers in implementing and sustaining continuous improvement initiatives, including documenting findings and supporting workshop activities.
  • Monitor and maintain tooling performance, identifying wear patterns and assisting in corrective actions to extend tool life and reduce operational costs.
  • Support the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) by contributing technical insights from frontline experience.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute manufacturing projects, ensuring technical standards are upheld and timelines are met.
  • Promote and uphold safety and environmental compliance in daily operations, identifying and reporting potential hazards.
  • Assist in the installation, calibration, and validation of production equipment and process controls to improve reliability, productivity, and safety.
  • Provide input on equipment upgrades and purchases based on practical experience and operational needs, ensuring alignment with long-term production goals.

Process Engineer Technician Qualifications:
  • Required: Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work directly with production personnel to resolve technical issues.
  • Required: Excellent communication and teamwork skills across various levels of the organization.
  • Preferred: 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or process technician role, ideally in metal forming or similar environments.
  • Preferred: Basic understanding of metallurgy, mechanical properties, and manufacturing automation.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Preferred: Associate degree or technical certification, engineering technology, or a related field.
