Role Description:
The ServiceNow CMDB Technical Architect defines and governs CMDB architecture while integrating ServiceNow with enterprise infrastructure and monitoring ecosystems. This role requires ServiceNow platform expertise combined with technical architecture experience across AWS, observability platforms (Splunk, Dynatrace), identity management (Okta), incident management (PagerDuty), and databases (PostgreSQL). The ideal candidate understands business and technical architecture alignment, leverages AI automation (NowAssist), and partners with the ServiceNow Project Lead to ensure scalable, best-practice implementations.
Key Responsibilities
1. CMDB Architecture and Design:
- Define and maintain CMDB architecture aligned with ServiceNow best practices and CSDM
- Partner with ServiceNow Project Lead on platform architecture decisions and ensure scalable design principles
- Establish governance standards: class structure, identification rules, reconciliation rules, and data quality controls
- Design IRE rules for accurate CI identification, duplication, and reconciliation
2. Infrastructure and Platform Integration:
- Serve as liaison between enterprise architecture and ServiceNow teams
- Design integrations with AWS services (CloudWatch, EC2, S3, Lambda), observability platforms (Splunk, Dynatrace), identity management (Okta), and incident management (PagerDuty)
- Establish data ingestion patterns enriching CMDB with operational intelligence and performance metrics
- Leverage NowAssist to automate CMDB maintenance, polling, reconciliation, and quality checks
3. Data Architecture and Governance:
- Apply data modeling expertise to design effective CMDB structures supporting enterprise data architecture standards
- Leverage database expertise (PostgreSQL, ServiceNow) to optimize performance, queries, and data integrity
- Implement infrastructure governance policies with controls, compliance standards, and architectural guardrails
- Ensure CMDB design supports business processes and technical architecture requirements
Required Qualifications
ServiceNow Platform:
- ServiceNow CMDB implementation and administration experience
- ITIL, ITSM, and IT architecture principles knowledge
- Experience with Discovery, Service Mapping, Integration Hub, and NowAssist AI capabilities
- ServiceNow CMDB certification preferred
Technical Architecture:
- AWS services (CloudWatch, EC2, S3, Lambda, IAM, VPC) and cloud infrastructure patterns
- Splunk (querying, indexes, log analysis) and Dynatrace (APM, infrastructure monitoring)
- PagerDuty (alerting workflows, escalation policies) and Okta (user data models, integration patterns)
- Strong data modeling expertise with understanding of object relationships and data structures
- PostgreSQL experience including query optimization, schema design, and performance tuning
