Job Description

We are seeking an Application Programmer III to help design, build, and implement a new GenAI platform and business use cases. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Python, distributed messaging, and large-scale ETL and a proven ability to deliver performant, resilient, and reusable platform capabilities.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and oversee end-to-end implementation of the GM GenAI platform and related business use cases.


• Develop architectural approaches for AI software and hardware integration with emphasis on quality, performance, resiliency, and reusability.


• Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to understand objectives and translate them into technical solutions.


• Lead cross-disciplinary teams to deliver solutions aligned with business priorities and expectations.


• Identify, prioritize, and execute tasks across the software development life cycle.


• Establish standards and drive automation for end-to-end SDLC efficiency.


• Mentor team members in technical design and development best practices.


• Drive platform performance, scalability, and resiliency testing.


• Implement hardware upgrades and software enhancements to meet global performance expectations.


• Address regulatory and performance-driven requirements for regional and localized infrastructure.


• Conduct research and prototyping to evaluate and identify new solutions that enhance platform and team capabilities.


• Monitor AI industry trends and advancements in AI, machine learning, and data science to inform continuous improvement.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Expert Python development, including threading, async programming, FastAPI, and object-oriented design.


• Experience building ETL for large datasets with performance optimizations.


• Pub/Sub and message bus design and implementation. Kafka or AMPS preferred.


• Experience working in large teams on shared multi-repo codebases, including VS Code workflows.


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


• Effective communication skills.


• 7+ years of relevant professional experience preferred.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with platform performance, scalability, and resiliency testing frameworks.


• Background in AI/ML platform integration and hardware acceleration.
