This position supports a mission-critical middleware platform within a highly regulated financial services environment. The role involves consulting on and participating in moderately complex initiatives, contributing to large-scale planning, and resolving engineering challenges. The ideal candidate will leverage a solid understanding of software engineering functions, policies, and compliance requirements while collaborating with client personnel to meet deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and support REST and XML-based APIs, authentication services, and secure middleware integrations for a high-volume platform.
- Ensure performance, scalability, and resiliency for applications processing millions of daily transactions by conducting performance, stress, and load testing.
- Lead and contribute to engineering efforts across distributed teams, including onshore and offshore partners.
- Participate in architecture discussions, SDLC process improvements, and large-scale planning.
- Work within enterprise-shared DevOps pipelines, supporting CI/CD, build automation, and production deployments.
- Utilize monitoring tools like Splunk, Elastic, Grafana, and AppDynamics to validate deployments and diagnose production issues.
- Contribute to cloud-readiness initiatives, including the design and support of containerized services using Kubernetes or OpenShift.
- Document architecture, technical decisions, and processes in Confluence and manage work using Jira in an Agile Scrum environment.
- Collaborate with product, QA, and platform partners to deliver on engineering goals.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
- 4+ years of experience with middleware web services and API design and implementation, specifically with Java and Spring.
- 4+ years of experience supporting high-volume, mission-critical applications.
- 2+ years of leadership experience.
- Demonstrated experience working with distributed teams, including onshore and offshore models.
- Experience with DevOps or DevSecOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, and SDLC best practices.
- Knowledge of cloud-ready architecture, including containerization with Kubernetes or OpenShift.
- Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Splunk, Elastic, Grafana, or AppDynamics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Apigee or other API management tools.
- Experience implementing Quality Engineering best practices.
- Familiarity with AI concepts as they relate to engineering and automation.
- Experience using Confluence and Jira for Agile delivery.
- Previous experience in the financial services industry.
